CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

9 But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:

For now, i'm focusing on Jeroboam. God condemned him in a very specific way. To do what Jeroboam did is a blatant and deliberate affront to God...sorta like kicking dust in god's face or spitting in God's face.
Then the fact that Jeroboam had the nerve to send his wife deceptively to a prophet...yet not a whisper of repentance.

Yes there is sorrow and then Godly sorrow wich brings repentance...seems Jeroboam only has the first sorrow at the cost.

....he was evil even in that...he wanted to "trick" the prophet with his disguised wife. In other words he wanted to "side step" God. Even THAT was abominable.
How insulting is THAT to God?
Looking further, he may have wanted his son to get better, but it never turned his heart to get on his knees before God and repent. In that regard, he didn't really love his son all that much, and was not in THAT much "sorrow" about his son's illness and possibly dying.

1 Kings Chapter 15
After Rehoboam died his son Abijan reigned for 3 years over Judah.
And he walked in all the sins of his father (verse 3).
When Abijam died his son Asa reigned for 41 years over Judah (verse 10).
And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made (verse 12).
Asa brought silver and gold vessels into the house of the Lord (verse 15).
There was war between Judah and Israel all his life.
King Baasha of Israel built Ramah to blockade Judah (verse 17)
Asa sent the silver and gold treasures from the house of the Lord, to Ben-hadad ruler of Damascus (verse 18)
Asa asked Ben-hadad for help against King Baasha of Israel. Ben-hadad attacked Israel and smote 5 cities of Israel (verse 20)
These attacks by Ben-hadad of Damascus caused the King of Israel to retreat from Ramah (verse 21)
Asa took over Ramah and dismantled all the stones and timber of Ramah. Asa used the stones and timber from Ramah to build in his own area the kingdom of Judah.
In his old age Asa got bad feet. After Asa died his son Jehoshaphat became king of Judah (verse 24)

In my mind Judah and Israel should have been natural allies. They were all the Children of Israel. In theory they had the same religion. Israel in the north were the 10 tribes of Israel. Judah in the south were the two tribes of Judah and Benjamin.
But Judah and Israel were not friends. Judah and Israel were always at war. Verse 18 says that King Asa of Judah used the temple treasures to fight King Bassha of Israel. Is seems to me they were making themselves poor throught wasting all their money fighting wars with each other.

Yes Rick357 Israel and Judah have always been organisationally separate, or run together as a confederacy. But it was not until Jerobaom and Rehoboam that they fell into permanent warfare.
It is my opinion that this made both countries poor.

Elah only lasted 2 years. When he was murdered by his servant Zamri (verse 10)

What a mess...reads like the history of any pagan throne...murder..conspiracy..idolatry...
Problem is these are the elect of God...the children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob...the people chosen to be the womb of Messiah....it shows us that if we lean to and trust our flesh; then even if we have a greater knowledge of God than any other people...we are as vile and wicked as them.
