  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Strippers...What are your thoughts??

If there was a more balanced male version of stripping that women were attracted to go see, there might be a different attitude from the men.

Actually male strippers in the UK are the ones that do the lewd bumping and grinding, complete with encouraging the audience to touch them and simulate sex. Most British men seem to have no problem with it, and many book male strippers for their girlfriends birthdays/hen night (I think hen nights are called bachelorette parties in the USA).

What continually blows my mind is that people think the human body is something shameful and needs to be covered. When they dont get that there is NOTHING wrong with the human body and/or swinging it around. Does it it get you excited? DUH! The human body (usually) has nice curves for a reason.

Well, Religion aside, since you won't entertain religion as a backup for our exceptions to this, why are we judged by our bodies if they are all just great and shouldn't be covered? Something tells me that if those in the stripper profession were overweight, too skinny, too flat, scars on the body, cellulite, anything that people find unnatractive about the human body, you would be the first one to say "Hey go put on some clothes!" So yeah, if you really believe what you said, do you feel that freedom should belong to "everyone"? Serious question.:)

I think strip shows are just an outlet for a lot of lust and that disturbs me.

An outlet can be a good thing. I am wary of people who keep their desires pent up and frustrated.

I remember when Venice Beach in California went nudist for a while. EEEK all those roles of flab, wrinkles, hangy parts, scars, stretch marks just did not enhanse my enjoyment. I stayed down near my place on the Marina Del Rey side.
Clothes are very good things for most of us.

There is more of relaxed attitude towards nudity and sexuality in Europe, IMO. America is very puritanical about nudity, in addition to the whole notion that abstinence is the only alternative to sex within a marriage also. Yet Americans consume tons of porn, have higher rates of teen pregnancy, STD's.

If male strip bars that catered to women were as popular as the regular strip clubs in the U.S., I think you'd see more jealous men out there who would change their tunes. Either women aren't as stimulated visually by looking at a nude man, as men are looking at female nudity - or - there isn't enough tasteful women-oriented erotica out there to tempt women visually.

A very thought provoking and insightful post. I tend to agree with you on all of the points you make in it.

Exactly the same with the drugpolicy here in the Netherlands. Soft-drugs are legal here, but we have far fewer addicts then in other countreys. It's like that a lot on there matters, even with deathpenalty and the likes. Severeness does not solve in most cases.

I've noticed that. I moved from America to Sweden two years ago, and I find the European attitude healthier and more mature.

Hmmm....a sexually repressive environment breeds more sexual mistakes.......I REALLY wish more people would figgure that one out.
