  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Strippers...What are your thoughts??

I would imagine that the vast majority (quite possibly all) of patrons at a strip club look at strippers lustfully. Christian women should not be supporting their lust by being strippers.

This is rather sexist. Remember there are both female and male strippers.

of course but both are destined mainly for male perversions...

I don't know what goes on in France, but in the US many women attend performances by male strippers and it isn't uncommon to have a male stripper perform at a bachlorette party.

Before, you go on I'm not in anyway supporting them so I hope no one takes offense to this.

Anyways, my question is how do you all feel about family members/bf/gf's seeing strippers? I recently heard a distant friend that I am staying with talk about going to see one and immediately felt very awkward around them! I just don't understand why anyone would want to see one. Or why boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers or what not would feel the need to go see them so strongly that they would risk that relationship. Just my opinion and again sorry in advance if I offended anyone!
Tell them you won't go see them and suggest an alternative activity.. if they still want to go that is their choice, (unfortunately).

The OP doesnt say "Who knows a stripper, let us know?", does it?

Some Fun Answers to the OPs questions
"How do I feel about family members/bf/gf's seeing strippers?"
I guess it depends on the quality of the strippers routine. Usually the routines are dumb and the girls are not all that to look at. But the drinks are way over priced.

From the OP "I recently heard a distant friend that I am staying with talk about going to see one and immediately felt very awkward around them!"

Why, did they ask you to strip at the club too?

" I just don't understand why anyone would want to see one. "
Curiosity, boredom, they like looking at female form, something to do with the guys, there is nothing on TV, they couldn't stand the boredom when the video broke down, their friend is stripping and they want to support the act, Horney ness, seduction, They got tired of watching the NBA, the NHL is on strike.
Just a few posibilities.
I dont go myself anymore because looking at lesbian single moms gyrate just does not do it for me. Actually, before my Navy life I thought the strip club thing was silly. It is a room filled with poisen smoke, where there serve expensive poisen drinks, while a woman trys to excite you sexually BUT will not releave the tension. It just seemed like an adventure in treating yourself badly.

"Or why boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers or what not, would feel the need to go see them so strongly that they would risk that relationship."

My, what fragile relationships with unsubstancial people the person would have to be in for that to be relevant.

"Just my opinion and again sorry in advance if I offended anyone!"

Actually those were questions from which we can only draw assumptions about your opinions.

Lustful thoughts are a sin. What are ppl thinking when they see strippers? I'm sure i don't have to type it all out for you to see where i'm going with this.

As a human being, seeing strippers is exiting. But so are other things that aren't good for you. My wife even told me she doesn't care if i went to the strip club with some buddies from work, but i still don't want to go.
Where do you get the notion that lustfull thoughts are always a sin?
Are you a Buddist Acetic?

The strippers who are not hookers
view the dance as a sort of casual flirtation
and not something to take seriously.
The Hookers are well ... hookers

"Eww, naked people are icky!!!1"
I'm naked most of the time I post on here - either that or I'm wearing a thong. I'm naked right now.

"Nudity!? Adulterers!! You'll all burn in hell for your nakedness!"
You were born naked.

It is a horrible life. It is full of drugs, drinking, sex, prostitution, rape, violence...

Not necessarily. When I had the shop in Newcastle we were around the corner from a strip bar. A few of the strippers used to come in the shop, and a fair few drank in one of the pubs I DJed (they never drank in the places they worked).

Their lives were not full of drugs, prostitution, rape or violence. They didn’t drink any more than any one else I know (a few drinks at weekends).
