I know I'll get backlash for this. But the civil war was not about slavery.
And by the way @Archivist, Lincoln admitted he manipulated things so the South fired the first shot. Naturally, that made them the "bad guys" and it made the north the "good guys."
The war began because the south left the Union and fired the first. But had it not been for slavery that wouldn’t have happened.

Are you saying Lincoln loaded the cannon? Gave the order to fire? I don’t think so. He sent a squadron to deliver supplies and troops to a Union fort. That isn’t manipulating anything. If the US sent a supply ship and troops to Gitmo, would we be manipulating Cuba to fire the first shot?

Especially when you say you don't want it, then encourage people to keep it up by doing it yourself?
I’m not encouraging people “to keep it up.” They should be polite to begin with. We are dealing with adults here,

Now can we get back to the OP?

Sure, what do you want to talk about?
I want to discuss the OP. Why were brave southerners who fought for the Union not honored at Richmond, statues that were to honor brave southerners?

That would be because brave southerners would be referring to the southern soldiers. Confederate soldiers are many times referred to as the south or the southerners, and the american soldiers are many times referred to as the north or northerners. Would you argue that brave confederate soldiers should have a place in monuments honoring brave northerners just because they lived in the north?

I know of no Civil War statues north of the Mason-Dixon Line that specifically honor “brave northerners.”

Why PM you? Do you not want anyone else to see or something?
No, I want to get the thread back on topic. I asked you to PM me if you want to continue your off topic discussion.

That's fine. I will start a new thread later about why the civil war was not about slavery.
