Really? How does history PROVE that Jesus Christ was a real person? I happen to believe he was but the historical evidence is sadly lacking. AFAIK there is only the one reference in Josephus and that may be a fabrication by a monk who translated Josephus in about 300 AD IIRC. It is almost certain that the passage was "improved" by the translator. [/COLOR]

And there's proof that Jim Jones and David Koresh walked on the earth. Are you going to worship either of them? At any rate, prove that the Jesus depicted in the Bible exists. You know, the one that rose from the dead after three days and performed all these different miracles. The evidence of the historical record seems surprisingly absent in regards to that Jesus Christ.
Why is it that when it comes to God proof is required, but not with science? What hypocrisy! Jim Jones or Davd Koresh or anyone else you care to mention, or any other religious leader or icon did not die for you but Jesus did. He loved you while you were and are His enemy enough to die for you because He knew without Him you would have no hope of eternal life.

I would dispute the historicity of Jesus. Outside of the bible, which can't be used for proof of an historical Jesus for obvious reasons, there are just 2-3 disputed pieces in Josephus. There is no scholarly concensus on those, but the big guns tend to see them as later inserts.
But even if we accept an historical Jesus it is a much greater leap to accept that he was god.

History can never prove anything, by the way, but there's not even much evidence for Jesus. The first signs of Jesus we have are from a guy who had a vision for goodness' sake. Vision - or hallucination? Hm.
There is certainly not enough evidence that Jesus did all those miracles - there's probably less evidence of Jesus' holiness than evidence of Zeus' power, since there are loads of stories about Zeus.
You've still not given us a good reason to not believe in Zeus other than lack of evidence. And there's very little evidence for the central tenets of Christianity - that Jesus actually rose from the dead.
Lie and twist as they may the truth will come one day and every eye will see and those on the wrong side will know
that they have rejected their only hope for eternal life in Christ Jesus.
