I'm really not sure if jesus is with me and I strongly believe that he is not
The Bible says we know we are children of God by the "witness of the Spirit with our spirit" that we are. (
Romans 8:16) What is this "witness," though? Is it just a feeling? Something else? Well, the Bible says God's children will experience the work of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, every day in their lives:
- The Spirit will convict the Christian person of sin. (
John 16:8)
- The Spirit will teach the Christian God's truth. (
John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 2:10-16)
- The Spirit will strengthen the Christian in times of temptation and trouble. (
Ephesians 3:16; Romans 8:13; Philippians 2:13)
- The Spirit will discipline the Christian when s/he strays into sin. (
Hebrews 12:5-11)
- The Spirit works into the Christian the "Fruit of the Spirit," godly characteristics like love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, self-control, etc. (
Galatians 5:22-23)
It's in doing these things in us that the Spirit "bears witness with our spirit" that we are really saved, born-again children of God. So, do you experience this work of the Spirit in your life? Have you ever?
everything is going bad in my life I dont get any sleep, none of my prayers are getting answered, I'm not the same person I used to be when things were going good
In the Old Testament, in the Book of Job, it says, "Man is born to trouble like sparks fly upward." This is just a poetic way of saying, "Sooner or later, trouble comes to us all." In a world cursed by sin, trouble is the consequence. We can't avoid it, no matter what we do. But, wonderfully, God has promised not to leave us alone in the middle of our trouble. If we'll let Him, He'll carry us through the hard times of life.
The thing is, though, He does this only under certain circumstances. His power to bear us up is available, but only when we submit ourselves totally and persistently to Him. You see, God interacts with us only as who He is: God. He is the Center and Ruler of the Universe, its Creator and Sustainer, Lord over all, and He comes into our lives as such. He's not going to be a mere "help," a sort of divine accessory to our living we turn to only when we need Him, but
the Center and Ruler of our lives. When He is, when He rules you top-to-bottom, inside-and-out, when you are giving Him constant control of you,
then He moves in power in your life, giving you all you need to know and enjoy Him and walk well in the middle of life's storms.
Romans 6:13
13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
Romans 6:22
22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
Romans 8:14
14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
Romans 12:1
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
James 4:6-10
6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
Is God the Boss of you? Is He really your Lord all day, every day? Until He is, it will be impossible to really, fully know and enjoy Him and be strengthened and changed for the better by Him.
I really feel like I'm not going to heaven and I'm really sad about it I dont know what to do
Well, does reality rely on your feelings? Is truth dependent upon what you feel? Is a thing only true when you feel it is? If, say, you don't feel that 2+2=4, is it not, then, true? I'm sure you'd say this sort of thinking is silly. But this is kind of what you're doing with God and His truth; you're making your feelings the basis upon which you decide what God has said is true or not. If God says in the Bible that you're a born-again child of God by trusting in Christ as your Saviour and Lord, and you trust in Christ as the Bible says, are you saved only if you
feel you are? Or, are you saved
because the Bible says so?
My Mom used to quote this to me a lot when I was kid:
"Feelings come, and feelings go,
And feelings are deceiving.
My warrant is the word of God,
Nought else is worth believing."
If there is one thing that is true of feelings, it is that they come and go, shifting with circumstance like clouds in the sky, blown about by the wind. Don't, then, anchor your thinking to your feelings. They'll quickly have you in knots, doubting and wondering all sorts of crazy things about God, His truth, yourself and other people. What God says is true, no matter what your feelings might be. Trust God, trust His word. Make these things the foundation of your thinking and living.
Psalm 119:97-105
97 Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.
98 Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me.
99 I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.
101 I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word.
102 I do not turn aside from your rules, for you have taught me.
103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Proverbs 3:5-8
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
8 It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
