With some (Victorian Gothic?) jewelry, the element of skulls and Christian symbols are combined. Could kind of give a sense of a representational balance of the weight of truth and the relevance of the death of Christ, the believer being dead to the world, etc.

(Two cents'.)

You see, some people would even object to the Victorian Gothic aesthetic, on the grounds that is supposedly "too dark".

On the other hand, this is exactly how a lot of women used to dress.

Indeed, many Christian women used to dress this way.

Blessings.

Then that begs the question, why do people wear black for death or mourning?

I guess in a culture where women were expected to produce 5 to 10 children, where many women died in childbirth and where infant mortality was high, people were surrounded by death - indeed, tragic death - even excluding the passing of those of ripe years.

Really, also, there is also a distinction between black as a sign of mourning, and black as an aesthetic.

Blessings.
