  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh, is that what they talk about?
Oh yeah, heard it all my life. I never did tell the rest of that story about the TV repair man who was charging more then my dad. My dad asked him if he did not think his rates were a bit to high. The guy said: You don't understand, I had to go to school for nine months to learn how to do this.

My dad never actually intended to stop doing house calls. People just got away from that and quit asking him to come out to their house. But that was how he got started. The old doctor in town did not want do house calls anymore. So he gave all of them to my dad. People got to know him than, and they would start to go to his office when they needed something.

Liver flush??? I have never heard of it. I have heard people say, 'drink a lot of water or cranberry juice to flush your kidneys', but the liver flush is a new one on me. I bet you became very thirsty following it though??

Einstein Jr. doing a "liver flush"??? NOW that is funny!! :D :p
naah, you get to drink some epsom salts through the evening, and then just before bed, a delighful mix of olive oil and brapefruit juice. the following day one gets to enjoy looking in the toilet for these little floaty green balls. I am not sure what they are, apparently they are gallstones or something.

:D SEE JOHN! :) THAT is a story for the book I suggested to you!! Went to school for NINE whole months, did he?? :D. You could actually do to do a little comedy routine for Docs telling these little snipets and stories form your dad's life. I can't wait to tell a friend of mine that!!

hmmmm, green balls, huh ;)...sorry I am a little warped....anyway, I do not think gall stones are green and could not make their way into your stomach to be ejected. I will defer to ej though, since she has much more clinical experience. The green could be bile though... I had surgery last year to have my gall bladder removed, stones had spilled into my abdomen and one was stuck in the main bile duct of my liver, the weeks preceeding this I was ejecting green "stuff" (sexy, eh?:D). Gall bladder problems crossed my mind but I kept telling myself, your too healthy, you eat healthy, you exercise, etc. etc....I came to find out I have a family history of this on my granfather's (maternal) side of the family but it had skipped my mom and her siblings...no one had ever mentioned it before!! It got to the point where I could not even get out of bed because I was in so much pain...

oh I am reasonably healthy, the reason I am doing this is linked to that hearing problem I had. While it got better, it didn't get totally better, and now I have nasty tinnitus as well. The docs can't do anything for me, so I decided to look up a few things to see if there is anyway I can help myself with diet, exercise and whatever. It might not work, but I have nothing to lose over it, and everything to gain. The human body is an absolutely remarkable machine, so I am interested to see what it can do :p

Adam and Eve had a choice: The tree of life or the tree of death, sickness or health, blessing or curse. You have the same choice today.
Agreed.

We know the decision they made, Eve because she was deceived, Adam, because he followed Eve in her sin. What is your choice? Life or death, blessing or curse?
You know my answer John.

Now if I could only get you to address the issue of biological vs. spiritual life in biblical context of healing. Why do you keep avoiding me on this one?

Now what? You go to the Great Physician and you get masterful surgery. The nice thing with God is that when He cuts something out, it does not hurt, there is no recovery time, and He puts more back into you, than He takes out.

My dad use to be proceedure oriented. He would set broken bones, you could go to him for stitckes, or if you wanted a wart burned off, or if you needed your ears flushed out and so forth.

To many doctors today are little more than a computer terminal. They just give advise or write perscriptions based on what you tell them. God is a Physician of proceedure. He gets to the root of the problem, He takes care of it and He will eliminate it. For those who are willing to go to Him and turn their problem over and to receive a miracle from Him. That is why, we actually go through a transformation from the old to the new.

If you want to know what life is all about, it is about making a decision if your going to live for God or not. God wants what is best for us. He wants us to be transformed into the image of His Son. Jesus came to set an example for us to follow. He showed us how to live, how to love, how to treat one another. When we have the divine mind of Christ, the Love of God and the Jesus attitude, then we will have the victory, and we can overcome everything. The Bible says, many are the afflictions of the Righteous, but God delivers them out of them all.

When we are restored onto God, then there will be no bad news, and there will be no bad reports. There is only good news and there are only good reports in Heaven. Angels go back and forth between here and Heaven, we can still communicate to some degree with our loved ones. But only good news will make it into Heaven. Bad news stays right here on earth where it belongs. Only good reports find their way to our loved ones.

God's promise to us is that all things work out for the best, for them that love God and are called according to His plan and purpose. So we have nothing to be worred about. God causes good to come out of everything. Because we give control over to God, so He is able to cause good to come out of it.

So we just continue to seek after what is good, true, & right. Then we know that God will cause everything to work out for the best for us.

He seems ultra selective on who he helps.

Of course he does. People who have terminal illnesses sometimes die; sometimes, for no explicable reason, they survive. If there is an omnipotent god, then he favours the person who lives.

Oh, the doctors have a explaination. The disease went into remission. They just can not explain why it went into remission.

I remember a pastors wife out in california that my wife and I went out to visit. They helped to sponser my wife when she was in college. The pastor's wife had cancer and when the doctors opened her up, the cancer was so bad that they just closed her up and sent her home to die.

To make a long story short, her husband wanted them to open her up again. It was not easy, but he talked them into it. They discovered the cancer was gone, but there was a infection from the first operation. They cleaned that up and she recovered.

So what? You simply avoid my point above. God DOES favour some - he heals them, while others who pray die.

But Christianity doesn't have an effect on bone healing, whilst age, nutrition, and co-morbid conditions DO have an effect.

How does this fit in with JohnR7's theory?
God clearly says that He will protect the bones of the righteous. Not one of them will be broken. Christian or not, if people are living right before God, then they do not have to worry about broken bones.

But Christianity doesn't have an effect on bone healing
Why do you limit God like that? For someone who claims to be in the healing business, you sure do not know much about God's Divine Healing.

That is what the pastor said. He sees some people recover and get better, he sees some people die. Of course for a Christian, when our work here is finished, is a time for celebration. We do not have to worry about out loved ones who have gone on ahead of us. They are in a better place than we are. Also, we can still communicate with them to some degree via the angels that go back and forth and can carry messages for us.

Earlier in this thread I asked a question that was never answered. I didn't direct it to JohnR7 specifically, but if he can answer, I'd appreciate it.

Why did Christ's physical form die? If he was sinless ,(as righteous as you can get), what killed his physical body? Why was he susceptible?

He died for the sins of the whole world. So that we could inherit eternal life. He died in our place for us. It was though one man, Adam, that sin entered into the world, and the result of sin is death. It was though one man, christ, that the penelity or the price was paid for mankind's sin. God is a God of absolute justice. People so often think of sin as people only hurting themselves. But people sin in that they hurt others a lot more than what they realize. God demands justice, He demands that a price be paid for people hurting one another. Jesus paid that price.

Jesus actually had no advantage over us. He was a man with all the limitations that we have. When He was baptised, he received the Holy Spirit of God, just like we receive the Holy Spirit of God. We can not only do, everything that Jesus did when He walked the earth. He clearly said we would do greater works than He did. If Jesus went about healing, teaching and doing good onto others, all the more we can do those good works.
