  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Joy I would love your pie crust recipe.I have a hard time getting it from the counter to the pan without breaking up.Although I did buy a scraper like the t.v. cooks have to scrape the counter to lift the crust.I`ll have to try it too.

Sounds wonderful...and I would love to help you make pies. What fun that would be!! (Speaking of simple pleasures :)) I have a no-roll pie crust recipe I've been making for years. Will give you the recipe if you would like.

Oh fun! I was wondering if your recipe is the same as mine ... I've been using it for about 35 years. 2 cups flour ... 2/3 cup crisco shortening ... cut the shortening into the flour until it's basciaclly marbles and then cut in seven cold tablespoons of water ... I truly don't think it's ever failed me.

If you check out my homepage in my montana album there is a picture of huckleberries ... if you click on it you can see them closer. Huckleberries are HUGE here! There are huckleberry festivals and all kinds of things. People pick them and sell them for money to live and there is a huckleberry faactory. I love picking them and have sold them many times but a little goes a long ways for me. I think it's one of those things you just don't quite get when you live here forever. I kind of like the blackberries that grow here and in Idaho, myself. We used to pick them in the ditches at my grandmas in Idaho when we were kids. We'd walk down this mile long gravel road picking up pop bottles to sell at the store when we got there. Then we'd use the money for candy and beetle baily, archie and other comic books ... and pick blackberries all the way back. Total simple pleasures for me. I was thinking memories are a simple pleasure, too.

God bless!

Memories ARE a simple pleasure and I have so many such as picking blackberries at my grandma's house also when we were growing up. If we picked enough my grandma would make a blackberry pie or cobbler and boy was that something special!

Your recipe is just a little different than mine lilmiss. Mine is 1 1/2 cups plus 2 tbsp. flour, 1 tsp. sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 1/4 cup milk. Mix all together and press into pie pan. Very easy and good too.

I ck'd out the pic of the huckleberries. They look yummy!!
