Shouldn't Creationism be taught at public schools?

They did not have such lifespan. People lived for about 50-70 years on average (if they survived childhood, wars, famines and nature).

Only imperial or patriarchal genealogies were mythologically prolonged.

Genesis was written after the Babylonian exile. Not during the stories it writes about. Therefore, its not a record, but a narrative.
Who’s narrative? Who could’ve possibly testified as to what took place before Adam was created?

Bible was not written by Moses. Neither the books of Moses were written by Moses.

And it’s not information from God. Inspiration does not equal dictation, literal historicity or even infallibility. God is not interested in teaching us genealogies or life spans.
So the genealogies in Genesis are a lie then?

The Bible certainly describes geocentrism. And the Catholic Church rightly observed this. The distinction is that, they thought that the Bible taught modern scientific concepts. And we now know that the Bible does not.

So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
Joshua 10:13

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭
The sun rises, and the sun goes down; to its place it hurries, and there it rises again.

The earth and all its inhabitants are shaking; I steady its columns. Selah
Psalms 75:3

For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, And he hath set the world upon them.
1 Samuel 2:8

Whoever flees at the sound of the terror shall fall into the pit; and whoever climbs out of the pit shall be caught in the snare. For the windows of heaven are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble.
Isaiah‬ ‭24:18‬ ‭

Psalms 104:2, 5 NRSV
[2] You stretch out the heavens like a tent,
[5] You set the earth on its foundations, so that it shall never be shaken.
Oh, so scientists never use the word sunrise? That would be promoting geocentricism.

It does not imply geocentrism today, because we have been taught in school how the physical universe really works. Joshua, if he was a real person, was not. When you read the writings from that era, there is no solar system in them.
Who cares? They were really good at writing and maintaining their historical records. Joshua was a real person BTW. Moses was a real person too.

The Bible is a Historical book - not a scientific one.

First 5 books were. Moses spoke directly to God. The Bible is an amazing book. Pretty crazy that this entire universe and the earth was created for man - so God could establish his family with man to those who accept salvation through Jesus.

It's your word against the Bible.
The biblical authors knew of what they spoke. And thus, they spoke of it.
I'm glad my faith isn't based on the Old Testament, then.

Nowhere even in the Bible it says that Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Bible. Its just a religious tradition, not supported by the evidence.

There is no mention of, for example the book of Genesis, until after the Babylonian exile.

I care. Your beliefs are just beliefs, we are talking about schools which are not supposed to teach beliefs.

Babylonian Jews' narrative, stories. Its no testifying, the book of Genesis is not a court record.

Mythological and/or symbolical. Like it was common in those days.

Mythology is not a lie. Its a non-literal, non-technical genre. A pre-scientific view of the world.

I don’t care if you say the sunrises or the sunsets. If you have kept meticulous historical records then I think teaching your history in school is legit

The first five books of the Bible were written by Moses. Who do you think wrote them? If you don’t know than just say so

Certainly not Moses. Do you think he wrote about his own death in the third person? Deuteronomy 34:5 5 And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. 6 He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.

Probably a post exilic author or Deuteronomistic historian.

Did you say probably? Lol. It was Moses. The last chapter of Deu had a lot of discussion whether to include in Deu or to begin the Book of Joshua. Even though Joshua wrote it was decided to end and be included in Deu.

The real question is why would you have such a strong opinion that it was not Moses? Many scripture refer to Moses as the author and Moses even refers to himself in the first person in Deu. So why such a strong opinion against Moses without having a clear alternative? Sounds like you have a motive behind your statement. Can you expose yourself to us?

No one. It could only be a narrative written by a later writer with theological points to be made.

What are you laughing about? Who told you Moses write those books?

It is called Biblical criticism | Textual, Historical, Literary | Britannica

It has been around since the enlightenment or so.

Besides, creationism does not need to be taught.
It is an inference that one is free to make once given the natural evidence.
Some choose to make it and some do not.
Nothing to argue about really.
