It looks like if the President has a chance of winning, it will be another close election. Yes, Pence has been a faithful VP, but he brings little to the ticket, at least in terms of carrying a state or states. How about switching him for Sen. Johnson of WI or Sen. Toomey of PA? What think ye?

A VP candidate hasn't actually influenced the outcome of an election since 1960, and I see no reason that would change here.
Many have made the same statement, and yes, 1960 was the last time that a VP candidate quite possibly swung the election.

Actually Sarah Palin made a difference for John McCain, both in a good way and a bad way.

McCain would have lost even with a different running mate. Obama was too charismatic and the people were too tired of GWB's policies.
