when it came to captured American arms, it was the M1 carbine the germans loved! So very easy to wield and shoot

yah? They used them against us? They must have captured ammo too. Now an m-1 is just a lot of fun. I shot a deer with it once too. Brought it down. Greatest plinker though, you know?

m1's are kinda pricey now, a good ruger 10-22 has the same feel and ease of use, and costs a lot less to shoot, you might enjoy one of those a lot.

not enough bang for my buck- a little under powered for me. But a nice little rifle and very popular. There are some similarities between the two…

I have a 1950 Russian SKS, with cheap Chinese steel/corrosive ammo I can hit an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of paper at 100 yards consistently. Bought it for $190.00 5 years ago; still packed in the grease. It's fun, but cleaning it afte the corrosive stuff is not.

I had a Chinese SKS in 1991 that I paid $89 for, about the going rate at the time. I shot about 80 rounds of Chinese Norinco ammo through it and then left on my first patrol on a submarine in the Navy. When I got back, it had rusted solid, the humidity of Washington winter and the corrosive primers really did a number. But I learned my lesson.
