A Corporate Area businessman was fatally shot on Windward Road in east Kingston this morning.

Police sources say the businessman, who is known to lodge his weekend sales on Mondays, was on his way to the bank when he was attacked.

His killers escaped with a quantity of cash which police sources estimate at more than $1 million.

Massive Gun And Ammo Find

Two women and two men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of a large cache of weapons and ammunition, which were found in a barrel containing food items at the Kingston Wharves yesterday.

The constabulary's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said the weapons found include one sub-machine gun and nine 9mm pistols, along with 640 assorted rounds of ammunition and one silencer.

According to the lawmen, preliminary investigations indicate that the weapons and ammunition were shipped to Jamaica from the United States of America.

A 9mm semi-automatic pistol and two rounds of ammunition were seized during that incident.

According to reports, on Thursday afternoon, the police responded to a flare-up of violence in Salt Spring, St James, and seized an M-16 assault rifle.

The lawmen returned to conduct an operation in Salt Spring on Friday morning. During a search of premises in a section of the community known as Bucktoe Lane, a KM-Tactical AR-15 rifle, a Colt Carbine M-16 rifle, and an Anderson KM AM-15 rifle, along with 68 5.56 rounds, 59 .223 rounds and 10 9mm rounds were seized.

The gun finds continued on Saturday, when a police search of premises at Rose Heights uncovered a .45 semi automatic pistol fitted with a magazine containing 10 .45 rounds, and 24 other assorted rounds of ammunition. Four persons, including a woman, were taken into custody in connection with that seizure.

At the same time, over in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, a 9mm semi-automatic pistol with 11 rounds was seized during a joint military operation along Ricketts Street in the parish capitol.

The cops then raided a night club in Georges Plain, Westmoreland on Sunday morning, and one man was held with a .40 Desert Eagle pistol loaded with three rounds.

The security forces on Thursday recovered a AM15 multi-cal rifle, the top half of a .303 rifle, one 5.56 magazine and an undetermined amount of marijuana.

Rifle, Handguns Seized In Spanish Town

During the search of an abandoned house, the lawmen stumbled upon the two 'big' guns - an SKS 7.62 assault rifle with a magazine containing nine 7.62 rounds, and a KEL-TEC sub-machine gun, which was fitted with a magazine containing thirty-seven .40 rounds.

In addition to the guns, the lawmen also seized several masks, cleaning sprays for the guns, as well as three police 'highlight' vests and two ballistic vests. Several persons were taken into custody.

...The police say they seized six 9mm semi-automatic pistols, along with 1,500 assorted rounds of ammunition. Some of the ammo is used in M16 and AK-47 assault rifles.

The police said they intercepted the vehicles in which the accused men were travelling, and found one Smith and Wesson 40-mm pistol with six .40 cartridges and one Beretta 9-mm pistol in hidden compartments. Ballistic comparisons confirmed that the firearms seized were those used to commit the double murder, the police said.

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Clarendon Parish Court on Thursday, July 16.
