  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm 71 and got married in October this year. My wife is frailer than I am, so I try to keep fit and well. I don't recover from exertion as well as I used to. I ride a bike 15 km, 3 times a week. We get a great deal of help with housework, which helps me.

I love the freedom of retirement. I'm also conscious of the reality that every day is a bonus. I've had a couple of health scares in the last few years. I regularly pray that the Lord will make my last years productive. I don't believe that I've finished my course.

I like to eat and keeping my weight reasonable is not easy. My wife is the opposite. I have to encourage (nag!) her to eat. I love life yet I'm looking forward to the next life.
That's one of the blessings of our seventies: looking forward to a peaceful heaven with God.

The other day i was going into the house with my keys in my hand and thought put these where you can find them and a few minutes later i couldn't find them. This the worst it has ever been. I am frantic with worry over it. Still can't find them. Stress is supposed to make this worse. My biggest fear is instead of getting them in My purse i put them in a garbage bag hanging next to my purse. I have thrown that bag away:(. My mind seems really scattered lately.

I am so understanding! I'll pray. I can't find a set of keys either! I think it has been two weeks and now I can't find my cell phone. :(

Anyone else here over 65 (and don't mind sharing it :D)? Do you have any comments or thoughts on being an older Golden Eagle, being retired or anything else?

I loved my 60s and really enjoy retirement. I've just turned 70 and my perspective has changed a bit. I like my age and love talking to others who've been through the same stages of life during the same decades. (Although I enjoy being with younger people too.) I can't believe we're 70 now. It feels like 50 but without having to go to work! :D

A couple of things are different though. I've realised that I have to be a bit more careful health wise. I need to be able to do everything for myself, so having a broken limb would be a real bind, and I'm aware of being slightly more frail than a few years ago.

The other is that Heaven has started to feel nearer. Although I think I have a few years left I find it awesome that before very long I'll be in the place where "...There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain... " (Rev 21 v 4b). Sometimes I worry that I have not done enough, but then I tell myself I'm going to Heaven because I have accepted Jesus as my Saviour, not because of anything I've done (apart from believing in Him).

What are your thoughts/experiences?
I hit 67 last year -- and in 2021 retired then started doing some exercises... I can now do about 12 chin-ups at one time and can do about 100 in a day, so I am actually in better shape now as far as that exercise goes than when I was in high school. Thanking God for good health.

I hope you found your key!

I haven't found mine. But my daughter called today. I told her I lost my cell phone. She said, "I'll bring it to you on Saturday. You left it in your granddaughter's car on Christmas Eve."
