Maybe its just me, but I would rather not get naked with another man in the same room. That's pretty awkward.

I really think that these posters who want to take all their clothes off are either very poor and can't afford a fig leaf, or they are a bunch of Socialist Liberals who have infliltrated this forum. They support Obama and Biden. I just hope that the Republicans are reading all of this, cuz I think they are going to pull a surprise on Romney at the next debate. Don't be surprised at anything! I hope you get a good look, if you know what I mean.

This is a DORM room...usually two twin beds, two desks, a couple chairs, two closets and two dressers...and if you are lucky, one bathroom. Not usually that big of a room either. This is the room that two people (preferable opposite sex since I'd hate to learn that co-ed dorms have gotten to the point of co-ed rooms)...anyway, this is the room they LIVE in for most of a year, if not longer. I'm not sure where you expect them to change their clothes if NOT in their dorm room. Yes, it feels a bit awkward at first, but before long, it is like dressing in front of a same sex sibling. This is not a striptease act...but taking off your jammies and putting on your daytime clothes...and since I hope you are putting on fresh underwear, then ya gotta get naked.

My dorm room had a closet that I could not stand in if I had wanted to because it had a built in dresser and the bottom was a huge drawer. It would have been a pain in the butt if anyone had dress in the bathroom because two dorm rooms shared the same bathroom...that was 4 girls...and it would have been beyond rude if someone felt the need to dress in there preventing us from using the commode or shower during that time...(we often all had to be to classes at the same time).

For all of you who find it strange to change your clothes in a room with a roommate, where do you dress? Not everyone in this world is blessed with a private bedroom (matter of fact, most of the world is not blessed with private bedrooms). College is one of those places. Four years is a long time to dress in the closet or shower...places that were never designed to be dressing rooms.

Do you realize that during our colonial days, you didn't rent a room in a hotel...but rather rented HALF OF A BED and slept with someone you didn't know, often with many other people in the same room.... Privacy is a modern convenience.

I'm probably going to totally ruin your day...but Jesus wouldn't have worn underwear...only a big shirt called a tunic would have been worn under his outer garment. (How unChristian of Him, huh?) Underwear are a modern invention.

(PS...I do wear underwear daily...and clean ones at that, so I have to get naked daily. I also get naked when I shower. And get close to naked when I dress for bed. Shocking isn't it?! ).

Whatever, it isn't rocket science to not dress in the presence of the same sex if you choose not to. You can wait for them to leave the room or ask them to wait for you outside.

Are YOU KIDDING? For 4 or 5 years, stand out in the busy hallway of a dorm in your pajamas so that your roommate can get dressed in privacy?!! That means going out in PUBLIC in your pjs...and you find this MORE acceptable?!?

Considering this the COLLEGE forum, I want to ask if you have ever even been in a dorm or a dorm room? Millions of college students literally get dressed in the same room as their roommates across the country EVERY SINGLE DAY and don't think anything of it.

My husband used to get dressed in a military dorm with probably 50 other men...ONE ROOM with lots of bunks. I'd like to see you ask 49 other Navy sailors/Marines to step outside the door for a moment 'cause you need to change your skivies' in privacy! And you probably ought to write to your congressmen and ask them to put in private rooms onto all those ships and aircraft carriers. They think they are lucky because they don't have to share bunks like the sailors did in the WWII days. (Do you know they all shower naked and in the same room?)

Not opposed to it. I have the ability to change clothes while getting naked without another male in the room. Amazing, huh.

In a one room house (which is what a dorm room is) that you share with a roommate?...where do you put him?

I served as a Marine, so need to tell me.

You served as a Marine and have NEVER been naked in the same room as another man?!?

I don't think I'd be taking it a stretch to say that you probably were in your skivies along with a number of other men in their skivies standing relatively closely (like in a line) with a NON-RELATED woman in the same room more than once....(probably looked something like a nurse)

...unless all your medical personnel really were men (possible, not likely).

This thread was started by a young man who needed reassurance that changing his clothes in his dorm room with his room mate present was 'okay'. There was another poster who made this sound like it was something "sick" and not Christian like. I am adamant that it is NOT weird or sick to dress in your dorm room...and although this young man is probably comfortable with this by now, I don't want some other young person to think that this is an "unChristian" like behavior. Changing your clothes in your bedroom is not "unChristian" and never will be. It also shouldn't be something to be self-conscious about. Simple as that.

He said he was uncomfortable...understandable. However he ASKED if it was "wrong" for two guys to dress in the same room....and the answer is simply "no, it isn't wrong...it actually is very normal".

He was asking for reassurance that he wasn't in a bad or wicked situation...and he wasn't. If he still felt uncomfortable after a short time, then he probably should pay for an apartment where he can have a private room...nothing wrong with that....but there is nothing wrong with changing your clothes in your dorm room.
