VIENNA, Austria - The United States warned Iran it will not have much time to respond once it is offered an international package of rewards to encourage it to suspend uranium enrichment, suggesting that the window could soon close and be replaced by penalties.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060602/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iran_nuclear

I personally think we need to show a little more patience with Iran.

Why beat around the BUsh, lets just get the worthless U.N. resolutions started.
Hey maybe we can get billions of dollars in U.N. dealing this time. (you know like the French and Germans did with resolutions from the UN.)

This time it's Europe that is danger, at least for their missles.
Hey, Europe, don't worry,If Iran nukes you I am sure the UN will sternly write a resolution against that action.

Well, if you want to see the bovine doo-doo hit the fan, this is it. You think you saw protests over the war in Iraq? You haven't seen nothing yet. You invade Iran, now we're talking a military stretched thin to the point that a draft is quite likely, and a large portion of those draftees will be against the war. Probably to the point of refusing to serve, even if it means jail-time or fleeing the country.

That's what you're looking at.

Agreed.

The whole thought of threatening Iran is ill-advised.

The current administration needs some serious remedial work on diplomacy. (as well as morals, ethics, and economics to boot!)

I think it's you who needs the remedial classes. The economy under the Bush administration has been a smashing success, and that's in spite of inheriting a recession from the previous Dem administration, the deadliest and most costly attack on US soil in our nation's history, the most destructive and costliest natural disaster in history, and fighting a war on two fronts.

Hope you enjoyed the kool aid you've been served. Save room, because there's always more available for your consumption!

Seriously, who told you the economy is a "smashing" success? Karl Rove?

The economy during the Clinton years was the best and most vigorous in US history - including a surplus when he left office. George Bush has taken care of that.

Now, I can see how you would think this if your annual income is more than $10 million. If so, the economy does indeed benefit you.

No Kool Aide, just facts.

Stats from the GaO and the Dept of Labor.

Actually, there was no surplus. It was only a projected surplus and he left a recession for the incoming Bush administration.

I suppose you remember though that Clinton did play a part in blancing the budget albeit at republicans prodding. But once the republicans came to power they totally abandoned their ideal of balancing the budget. Cutting taxes and doubling spending, doesn't make a whole lot of sense. George Bush's "don't worry the government's got plenty of money" doesn't make a whole lot of sense either. surely no conservative can support the current spending plans!

That's beside the point. There still was no real surplus. It was only a projected surplus on paper.

I'm curious, if you truly believe that there was a real surplus, how much of that surplus did Clinton plan to give back to the taxpayers? How much did he plan to give to pay down the debt?

I'm not talking invasion. Definitely not yet. We don't need an invasion to reduce their enrichment sites to rubble.

We should have some patience, but if they don't stop the run around soon, we will have to play hard ball.

Yeah but even a preemptive strike could prove to be quite foolish. Iran has already openly stated that if we attack them, they will attack Israel, our ally.
