When did that start? When I went to school we learned all about the things that happened to black people. We learned about it in literature classes.and in history classes. My son knows about this stuff and he's 16. So when did they not teach about the plight of black people?
Interestingly enough the states rushing to ban CRT from schools have also made it impossible to teach of the plight of black people or even that their plight ever existed.

Why are you so fixated on Tulsa? We all learned about the slave trade, how slaves were treated. We all learned about Jim Crow and how blacks were treated then. We all learned about the hangings and the crosses burned in people yards. We all learned about the KKK and the segregation blacks were forced to endure.

It's not like history classes just pretended this stuff never happened. At least not in the schools I attended. And not in the schools my kids attended.

You make it sound like History teachers only taught that white people were wonderful and blacks had no problems. Where on earth did you go to school?

This is what CRT does. Seeks to try and convince people that whites are horrible and don't want anyone to know anything about black people cause all white people are a bunch of racists.
just try to explain Jim Crow or lynchings or the KKK without talking about the basic tenants of CRT

You just don't get it. I am in my sixth decade. The history of blacks I learned was only taught one week in February in the school year. I lived it! You all just need to educate yourselves. Did you know that it was a black man who discovered the treatment for blue babies? I didn't know until I was an adult! Some whites did not know that blacks fought in all of US wars but were lynched by their countrymen when they returned home. This is US history as much as the stories of Louis and Clark. How much do you know about the underground railroad? When did you learn about it? Why should the accomplishments of black people be viewed as divisive by white people? What are you afraid of? This history has been suppressed/hidden but it needs to be taught, the good, the bad, and the ugly of it.But that is just my opinion, and maybe the opinion of some good Christians.

It was suppressed! I came of age in the 60's. I learned about the space program and John Glen and all about his space orbit. But I didn't learn about the black women who helped him get there until very recently. There is a movie about them called Hidden Figures. You should watch it.This history was suppressed. Here is a clip

Are the people who work under a Director "suppressed" because he is nominated for an Academy Award and they languish in the shadows? No. They are happy to be a part of a successful film and work behind the scenes. They know they were involved in the success.

That's work life for most people, who will never direct. Someone above them will get credit for work that it took an entire cast and crew to make possible.

Oh, I was mistaken about you. thought you were one who understood.
Yes it is true that people on joint projects are happy to be a part of great work. But, people don't want their work stolen and someone else gets the credit for it. You would not like it.Shucks that is why we have patent and copyright laws today. Nomination for an Academy Award is usually a group effort anyway. That is why the winners usually give a long list of people who helped them get the recognition in their acceptance speech. What we have been discussing is history that has been suppressed and/or whitewashed.. There is no need for people to be afraid of the not so rosy history of America. America is America because everyone of all colors contributed to it's success. But the contributions of people of color have been hidden, suppressed, stolen,or ignored. This causes subsequent generation to have a skewed understanding about how we got where we are. And today people are fighting against the truth being told. It is sad. And some of these people who want to hide it are Christians. We are suppose to be one in Christ Jesus. I thought you understood.

Race and racism do divide people and CRT rightly points out that this is the problem

That's not what CRT does. You don't need CRT to point that out. We all know racism divides. CRT goes far beyond that to teach division. Specifically TO divide. It's an insideous vile ideology.

Tulsa was buried and rarely talked about until more recently. If you'd like to discuss why that would be a good topic for an academic discussion with the people you seem to dislike.

The problem with CRT is that it talks about things like the long-term systemic racism that have existed in this country that some people don't want to talk about, which wasn't limited to Jim Crow, and didn't just happen 100 years ago.

Talking about what racism is really like, and how it affects society isn't what divides us.

It's the racism that divided us and talking about it is the only way to get past it.

The way to get past it is not to teach white people they are all racist by virtue of their skin color. And teach black people that white people are their enemy. Racism is not the evil it once was in this country. Racism divided us a long time ago. It doesn't have to any more. But CRT teaches us that we are still a racist country and white people are still racist and everything is still racist.

It's evil.

We are NOT a racist country. I don't care if we talk about Tulsa it slavery or Jim Crow. That's all part of the history of this country. We need to be honest about it. But it's not like "we don't talk about Tulsa because we are trying to cover things up.". That's just nonsense. If we were doing that then we wouldn't hear anything about anything involving blacks in this country. Just because we don't fixate on one particular event doesn't mean we are ignoring all of history.

You need to take a much deeper look into CRT. It does not mean what you think it means.

According to CRT, the fundamental problem with America is its “whiteness,” its caste system based on skin color. The lighter your skin, the closer you are to the top of the system. Since the United States was founded by white men, racism has been woven into the tapestry of the American experiment from the beginning, and it continues to corrupt every aspect of American life. Our “original sin,” then, according to CRT, is whiteness.

A culture’s “salvation” from that fall begins when the oppressors become “woke”—when they see and repent from their own sins as oppressors and begin to dismantle the inherently oppressive structures of their culture. Since whites can’t see their own racism (according to CRT), they need to learn to see the world through the CRT lens. Only then will racial equality be possible.

The idea of CRT is all systems in America are racist and must be overthrown because they exist only for the white man and oppress the black man. It rejects individualism and pits people into groups by race. Guilt or innocence is based upon racial lines. White people as a WHOLE are guilty by virtue if the color of their skin. Black people are innocent and victims solely based upon the color of their skin.

CRT views Western society as so thoroughly “white” that people of color do not realize how oppressed they are. According to CRT, racism is a systemic reality because white people have societal power in America and other Western nations. Laws, policies, institutions, etc. are systemically racist because they promote the interests of white people and oppress people of color.

CRT’s approach to racism as a systemic reality flips the traditional understanding of racism. Typically, people have understood racism to be an individual mindset viewing one race as superior to others, a mindset that leads to racist actions and policies such as segregation.

CRT reverses this understanding: racist policies cause racist ideas. The people in power have created a racist system to serve their own interests, and this system fosters racist ideas among those under it.

A critique of Critical Race Theory

CRT is NOT a discussion of racism. It's a demonization of one particular group and the entire American system. It's an evil ideology.

when?

Take a look through the threads in these forums and just count how many are attacking Black Lives Matter. Denouncing protesters. Vilifying the woman who started BLM. Look at how many posts there about just how violent and prone to committing crime black people are. In so many threads one race is pained as bad. Even this thread we are in begins with a denouncement of black leaders as unreasonable or not smart enough to see the "truth"

What do you mean when?

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." MLK.

Your post is a prime example of CRT and villifying groups of people.

We attack ideas not people. BLM is NOT attacked because black people are involved. Most of the ideas it promotes are rotten to the core and are rotten no matter who promotes it.

We are not attacking protestors, but rioters. No matter what color they are.

The woman who founded BLM is a Marxist which is really bad. She is villified for her beliefs and it has NOTHING to do with the color of her skin.

You are an absolute example of a what is wrong with CRT. Which is to see everyone and everything based on color and not on ideas or character.

The sad thing about this clip is that this scene is fiction (i.e., removing segregated bathrooms), but those black women that helped shape our space program are very real.

how is that working out?

Your post is a prime example of CRT and villifying groups of people.

We attack ideas not people.
attack like how you keep falsely claiming that Charlie Craig and David Mullins targeted Jack Phillips bakery?

BLM is NOT attacked because black people are involved. Most of the ideas it promotes are rotten to the core and are rotten no matter who promotes it.
Like the idea that police brutality is wrong?

We are not attacking protestors, but rioters. No matter what color they are.

what beliefs exactly?

You are an absolute example of a what is wrong with CRT. Which is to see everyone and everything based on color and not on ideas or character.
i have no idea what color your skin is all i can judge is your character

The historical method is how we deal with the regular disparity and incompleteness usual in accounts of past events.

Lol sorry no...the historical method relates to the reliability of primary and secondary sources in determining the most likely version of history that occurred.

It's not perfect, but it has improved, because it relies on evidence.

It's how we evaluate and use evidence, because much of historical evidence comes to us in the form of accounts.

Right but we don't just take accounts at their word...they're evaluated against known facts. Magellan writing about an island of dog headed people isn't to be taken seriously, it was a lie to sell books.
