Did you read the article? The article made me want to read the book, and I thought others might think the same as I do? Do you not want people to read the book for some reason?

Perhaps you haven't read the article either? It's pretty clear to me that the author sees very clear.

I did read the article. His opinions struck me as a combination of straw men and inaccuracies atop the wholesale rejection of CRT that I’ve so far found to be vacuous and inconsistent with normal Christians’ approach to other avenues of life.

Very much so... It should not be that way, but sadly it is.

You’re right. It shouldn’t be divisive. Unfortunately, many conservative Christians seem hell bent on erecting double standards to reject it for no other reason that I can see other than the fact that it’s associated with liberals.

Why? You haven’t read it. How can you know how substantive or persuasive its arguments are?
It might not do you any good to read it...you already have your mind made up that, "Unfortunately, many conservative Christians seem hell bent on erecting double standards to reject it for no other reason that I can see other than the fact that it’s associated with liberals."

I don't turn away from TRUTH just because certain groups of people identify with that TRUTH. TRUTH is TRUTH no matter who identifies with it.

I really doubt that if I had already read it, it would change your mind any...sadly, your mind is made up.

I disagree. The problem I see is people get defensive and start to take things personally when it is not meant to be that way. I think the air needs to be cleared whenever racial history is discussed. There are things that people of color contributed to American excellence that has never been acknowledged by white people in America. It is funny because while white people want people of color to forget their part in America's history, they keep promoting the part of white people.

Your mind appears to be already made up as well. Perhaps if you read the book you might draw the conclusion that the author is full of excrement and reject their ideas. Since you’ve never read the book you can’t be sure.

It is a case of "Do as I say, not do as I do".

It’s not that I’ve made up my mind. It’s that I’ve seen a lot of people espousing a particular idea that doesn’t sound right to me and then backing their positions with arguments I find pathetically unconvincing.

I’ve been waiting for someone (not merely in this thread, but rather in the greater evangelical culture) to articulate a sensible defense of the claim that CRT should be rejected outright, that it’s wholly unbiblical, and that it doesn’t even have a place or utility as a tool for analyzing culture and the power dynamics within culture. So far, all I’ve seen are shallow variations on “the gospel is all we need” and “Marxism bad, mmmkay” and nothing in the article in your OP even hints at anything more substantive.

If the complaint was mere that some on the left over-apply CRT and take some of its ideas too far, I wouldn’t have a problem with that. But that’s not what’s being argued. This resistance smacks of having some sort of agenda behind it.

I don't know why so many white evangelicals are so nervous about Critical Race Theory. It is the same thing that black and brown people have been saying for years. Only now it has a name.

It's racist.

"It critiques how the social construction of race and institutionalized racism perpetuate a racial caste system that relegates people of color to the bottom tiers."

Sounds pretty on point to me. Whites that don't recognize this are pretty racist to me.
