Reading Malachi today. As i read the first chapter i am struck with the notion that God wants all of us, not part of us, he wants us to not store wealth and live in luxury, but instead to give it to the poor and to trust Him to supply our daily needs, i.e. to walk by faith not sight. But this is just a thought i had, it could be wrong.

I notice that the Priests ask God how they defiled Him or despised Him. Christ also records men who ask a similar question to Him. Very interesting observation. Also notable is the fact that we are a Royal nation of priests according to Peter.

Malachi 1:To you priests who despise My name.
Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’

‘In what way have we defiled You?’
By saying,

You also say,
‘Oh, what a weariness!’

14 “But cursed be the deceiver
Who has in his flock a male,
And takes a vow,
But sacrifices to the Lord what is blemished—
For I am a great King,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“And My name is to be feared among the nations.

Mathew 25:44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

THAT first chapter reeeeally intrigues me....God is looking on the priests hearts and they have the GALL to ask God HOW they have defiled Him? They are INCREDULOUS! On top of hating God in their hearts, they were "messing" with Him??!!

Yeah, the NERVE they had. That's some kind of abominable, right there.....

Yes, as if God would be pleased with their "leftovers"

This seems interesting too.

Malachi 3:..For He is like a refiner’s fire
And like launderers’ soap.
3 He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
And purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the Lord
An offering in righteousness..

Return to Me, and I will return to you,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
“But you said,
‘In what way shall we return?’

Yet you say,
‘What have we spoken against You?’
14 You have said,
‘It is useless to serve God;
What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance,
And that we have walked as mourners
Before the Lord of hosts?
15 So now we call the proud blessed,
For those who do wickedness are raised up;
They even tempt God and go free.’”

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

..and I love verse 16 which comes afterwards, and which puts things into perspective... :)

.....

Peter's Royal nation of priests is very restricted in scope - few are members. (although multitudes are deceived into thinking they are "in")

go back to "thought i had" and don't think it wrong --- Yhvh wants "ALL" of you

- to be completely in right relationship with Him, if you are His.

those 'outside'(not part of ecclesia = the vast majority of people here and everywhere) , their relationships don't matter diddly, they are dead (in sin and trespasses).

those 'inside'(all ecclesia), are held to accountability to Yhvh's Word.

I started reading Hosea today, i was interested in the wool and linen that God said he would take back (chapter 2) and so i googled these words and ran across a webpage that talked about priests and the clothing they wore which separated them from everyone else, and the anointing oil as well.

I finished reading Malachi. Very good book.

It's short but so searching and relevant, even though it's about Israel and not the church. There are so many lessons and applications for pilgrim believers.

Blessings.

That's true.....when i read anything in the Bible, i usually read it slowly.....and try to absorb it....so even if it's only 4 chapters, i would need to have the energy to concentrate...

Good to read carefully and prayerfully, yes.

Blessings.
