here is an example for your consideration:

I'll agree that they're not good, context being important, but they do have value. Look for all that she wrote on a particular topic. That is the point I believe.

2tim

You didn't say that, and if you were dead you couldn't correct it either...

But you changed what I said. That's WAY different than taking something out of context. Look, I agree, context is ALL important. But frankly, if I am looking for light on a topic I would really rather not have to search through every book from the most published female author in the history of literature.........

How do you know they didn't change what she has written? Some have suggested that they have.... some even have documents to prove that changes have occurred.... The question is why...

You have to be intelligent about what you read and how you apply it I suppose. As always. Besides, there is nothing keeping "them" from changing what's printed in her original "in-context" works either. So we can't cite that as a reason t dismiss complilations as having no value.

You can't.... I may..... as I stated before.... compilations... not good... I suspect they have changed a lot more than people realize....

Here's what I do.

With the Bible or the SOP when I'm looking for information or whatever. I do a SEARCH. Then I REsearch the results in the original context.

Works every time. ;)

2Tim

What you assume is the original context... it is said that the older editions of The Great Controversy are slightly different than the newer editions..... Having said that I understand your point....

Not being picky. How do you know it has worked every time?

LOL. Well. Fair enough. Let's just say that this seems to be a good way of avoiding the "out-of-context-blues". I know it works every time because I am rarely "flagged" for using things in the wrong context.

In fact, only my man Statrei has ever accused me of that here. And I'm not sure HE'S holding his Bible right-side-up sometimes.

I kid.

I'm a kidder.

Anyway. I believe it works. By all appearances.

Nice catch Statrei.

Did anyone who read the books by Lahaye and Jenkins notice an untoward emphasis on the impact of the "rapture" on transportation? Like this inconvenience was of paramount importance?

Did anyone who saw the movie notice that during the tribulation cabs were running, electricity was on, planes were flying?

I turned to my wife and said, "Gee. This tribulation thingy doesn't seem so bad."

Get the CD from the ellen white estate, It cost me about 150 bucks US,

It is well worth the price for anyone interested in the writings of EGW regardless of the reason,

It seems that many of her writings were compiled even while she was still alive,

Using the search tool, you will find that what she wrote in one place is repeated word for word in sometimes up to 20 different places in the writings,

There you go again, chasing rabbits. Let us assume this was the first time.

statrei--may I ask you to answer questions in a respectful and orderly manner? I have no idea why you keep referring to rabbits. Perhaps it's a private funny you enjoy, but to me-it's rude.

And NO—let’s NOT assume this is the first time I said it--because YOU made the accusation that I had posted that before. I just went over all of my posts in this forum, and unless I totally missed it--I cannot find any other time that I posted something about theatrics except this one....

Hi Tim--I have not read the Left Behind books. I have however seen a movie on one of the religious stations based on the books. I have to say that I laughed thru most of it--nothing in it came remotely close to the bible model of end time events. I do know that they claim that their interpretation is based on Dan. 9. , but unfortunately they MISinterpret that prophecy. I can see why the SOP said that nothing of a theatrical nature should come into the gospel work.

Perhaps you are confusing me with someone else.

It has been along time since I read the first book, But if I remember one of the things they pointed out was all the accidents that happened because transport operators of every stripe were raptured,
