  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why is that?
I thought I explained it well enough back then, but here it is again:

I think a person who is a Christian is one who is Christ-like, and we won't be Christ-like until we get to Heaven.

I consider myself a saint.

Ephesians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Philippians 1:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

Colossians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
Colossians 1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christian means "of Christ," not "Christ like." None of us are Christ like.

One can be a creationist but not a Christian. One can be a Christian but not a creationist if he ignores the fact that Christ taught that the writings of Moses were accurate. Many, in fact, claim to be Christian and yet disavoy nearly everything in the Bible. I've never understood that one.

A saint? Ok.

Others do consider themselves christian though, so I guess they have a different take on it then you.

I changed my mind -- going with "Christian" now.

I thought "Christian" meant "Christ-like" -- it means "follower of Christ."

You never looked it up?
Not really.

When I did, I found this:
The Greek word Χριστιανός (Christianos), meaning "follower of Christ",

SOURCE

Which is exactly what KW said ("of Christ").

Nothing wrong with changing your mind.

When presented with evidence that goes against a current belief, changing one's mind is a sign of strength.

I don't believe anyone ever asked Christ about creationism, although they DID ask about the validity of the Scriptures. He confirmed that the Scriptures are the truth and that the writings of Moses are accurate.

Luke 4: 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. What was the word of God that Jesus spoke of if not the Scriptures? If man should live by EVERY WORD from the Scriptures, than those who discount the early chapters of Genesis and any miracles they do not like are disavowing what Jesus taught.

To date, no theistic evolutionist has EVER been able to support what he claims is truth through the Scriptures. The Scriptures are truth and evolution is a lie, You can't blend the truth with a lie without getting a lie.

1. Since Jesus stated "word of God" and not scripture written by Moses, are we still to assume that Jesus meant the 'Scriptures written by Moses'? Where in the Bible are we told that "word of God" and "Scriptures" are synonymous?

2. Even if Jesus meant scripture when He said "word of God", did He mean that every word of the scriptures is literally historically accurate? That isn't exactly what Jesus said, is it? Doesn't living "by every word of God" require some interpretation of the scriptures?

How, pray tell, were people to know what the word of God was without the Scriptures?

John 5:46 "For had you believed Moses, you would have believed me: for he wrote of me." Here Jesus tells us to believe the words of Moses.

Interpretation, yes. Rejection, no. The description of the creation is very detailed, leaving no doubt what i meant by the six days of creation.
Are you able to support what you are claiming is truth through the Scriptures?
I have, hundreds of times.

Creationists, answer these questions as quickly as possible and definitely without googling (Remember, thou shalt not bear false witness)

What orifice forms first in deuterostomes?

Which human chromosome has subtelomeric duplications?

Which chromosome is missing in Turner Syndrome?

Where are the pharyngeal pouches in a human embryo?

What two organic rings fuse to form purine?

Which two human chromosomes were numbered 'backwards'? (They were labeled according to length.)

What are the two most common types of lack of pigmentation?

I ask because these are basic knowledge to anyone with even a mediocre education in biology beyond high school. If you know more about biology than every lifetime biologist on the planet you should be able to get all of them

Heres an even easier test for Atheists to test Ones logic :

1. You walk down the stairs in the morning to have breakfast, and as you approach the kitchen table you notice some letters forming recognizable words which says :' Take out the garbage Honey and I love you' . You immediately assume that the Cat knocked the box of alphabet cereal over which just happened to spell these words out correctly, or, you know that these words represent a message from an Intelligent Source . Choose the answer.

2. You are at the beach on a hot day, and when you look up into the sky you notice a message that reads : 'Drink Coke' . You immediately assume that the cloud formations and wind were such that it spelled out that message for a full one minute, or, you know that this message was produced by an Intelligent Source. Choose the answer.

3. You take a ride out to where you are having a brand new house built and are pleased to see that the walls and roof are up . You exit your car and walk thru the shell of the house and find 3 large pages of paper that are white and blue with specific instructions on how to assemble the walls to the roof members, what size the Plumbing pipes will be , and the added supports so your Home will withstand a category 3 Hurricane so you can continue living there. You immediately assume that these instructional messages came about naturally because you saw pencils and other raw materials sitting nearby , or, you know that there was some kind of Intelligent input from a Person who is interested in assuring your convenience and safety . Choose the answer .

4. For every DNA molecule in our Bodies, there is encoded digital information that is much like a blueprint instructing how a Cell should specifically form (http://www.reasons.org/articles/digital-...ed-in-dna) . These instructions are in the form of an alphabet . Many Micro Biologists describe the internal workings of the DNA molecule as being 'astonishingly busy with as much complexity as the infrastructure of a major U.S. City ' . Famous Atheist Zoologist Prof. Richard Dawkins has declared that the amount of specified information in each DNA molecule would fill 1,000 volumes of encyclopedias if it were spelled out. Given these facts, you immediately assume that these instructional messages just came about by chance from nothing , or, you know that there had to be some kind of intelligent input that deliberately came up with the information then manipulated it to accomplish a very narrow specific intended goal much like we do when we type an Email -- (we come up with the information , then we distribute it with the goal of getting our point across) . Choose the answer.

John 5:46 "For had you believed Moses, you would have believed me: for he wrote of me." Here Jesus tells us to believe the words of Moses.
Then according to Moses in Genesis 2:18-20, God was actually trying to find a helper for Adam from the beasts of the field? That part is literally true?
Also in Genesis 6:7, Moses wrote that God was sorry He had made humans. Is that also literally true? God felt it was a mistake to make humans?

Interpretation, yes. Rejection, no. The description of the creation is very detailed, leaving no doubt what i meant by the six days of creation.
Then every story in the Bible is literally true? The trees really elected a king? (see Judges).
God really didn't know where Adam and Eve were hiding when He came into the Garden after they had eaten the fruit?
God really didn't know they had eaten the fruit?
God was incorrect when He told Adam that eating the fruit would kill Adam on the same day he ate it?
God really punished all of snake kind because one of them beguiled Eve?

I have, hundreds of times.
Best get started then.

Intelligent source because the alphabet was invented by humans (relatively intelligent). Humans also are known to make sentences out of those letters.

Intelligent source because the house plans were invented by humans (relatively intelligent). Humans also are known to make houses and plans.

Unknown. DNA is a chemical structure not an information system. It uses chemistry to build proteins that perform functions through chemistry. That it builds a lot of proteins which in turn perform a lot of functions, does not make the fact that DNA is a chemical structure any less true. The fact that we can observe the DNA molecule ripped apart and reconstructed through chemical bond formation shows that it is possible for natural mechanisms to construct the DNA molecule. We have never observed an intelligent designer build a DNA molecule from scratch nor have we seen any plans left by an intelligent designer showing the methodology for building DNA. Conclusion: No conclusive evidence that the DNA molecule was intelligently designed....Unknown if it was intelligently designed.
