CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Heh, my uncle is pretty devout, but he is also a little nuts, a little off. Not because or in relation to his religion, no, he has always been a bit off. He would probably still laugh at what you have to say though, that god needs to change these "perfect, fine tuned physics" for no real reason other than to mess with humans. He has faith that god would do it right the first time around and wouldn't have to change anything so significant.

So called science has been blathering for too long. Some tire of the absolute foolishness of claims like the moon came by some smash up derby, or the sun and planets and all stars came from a hot little speck so small we could not see it even, and they have no clue why, or where it came from! Then we can waft the oceans in over time with little comets! Whatever you need...presto. Intellectual sewage is not science in any real way actually.

No, but what omnipotent, all knowing being would have to make such a significant change? No, he just thinks that, since the earth was made "in the beginning" and not technically the first day, that the earth existed for a long time before god did anything with it. That's just his thoughts on the matter, and why not?

Please, put that in the pamphlets you give to people that you proselytize to. If you don't, I will. If there were such a thing as atheist missionaries, all they would have to do is show people your posts.

That isn't true. People are not taught in secular public schools not to believe or to believe, and again I would like to mention that people can still have their kids hand in permission slips so they don't take lessons on evolution or other topics their parents view to be completely in conflict with their religion.
