Heh, my uncle is pretty devout, but he is also a little nuts, a little off. Not because or in relation to his religion, no, he has always been a bit off. He would probably still laugh at what you have to say though, that god needs to change these "perfect, fine tuned physics" for no real reason other than to mess with humans. He has faith that god would do it right the first time around and wouldn't have to change anything so significant.

So called science has been blathering for too long. Some tire of the absolute foolishness of claims like the moon came by some smash up derby, or the sun and planets and all stars came from a hot little speck so small we could not see it even, and they have no clue why, or where it came from! Then we can waft the oceans in over time with little comets! Whatever you need...presto. Intellectual sewage is not science in any real way actually.

I told my wife it just makes me want to run to the phone and order some synthetic cure for something I've got.

I like the comedian who said he has headaches, so he takes X to alleviate his headaches and it gives him diarrhea, so he takes Y to alleviate his diarrhea but it causes vomiting, so he takes Z to alleviate his vomiting and it gives him headaches. Now he's hooked in a vicious cycle forever.

Reminds me of the guy who had trouble swallowing. He took viagra but all he got was a stiff neck.

No, but what omnipotent, all knowing being would have to make such a significant change? No, he just thinks that, since the earth was made "in the beginning" and not technically the first day, that the earth existed for a long time before god did anything with it. That's just his thoughts on the matter, and why not?

That isn't true. People are not taught in secular public schools not to believe or to believe, and again I would like to mention that people can still have their kids hand in permission slips so they don't take lessons on evolution or other topics their parents view to be completely in conflict with their religion.
