It should be made up of a diverse cross-section of CF members: both goody-goodys and people who have had lots of staff trouble.

Hey Matrona, I got a question for ya, which side of this do you think we would end up on the goody goody side or the kind that gets into lots of trouble side ;)

I think I am even afraid to know the answer to that actually..... :holy:

We shall see if Amnesty Day Number 2 comes about. We've done it before. There are no guarantees at this stage - lest some members think it's free license to go on a rule-breaking rampage.

My vote's on no. I have as much to gain from an amnesty as anyone, but I still think a review board would be the wiser, more cautious course.

Nothing like being forthright is there my friend .....

I'm pretty sure I've warned you about the dangers of excessive annoyance and coffee. ;)

First of all I found these   and I think they belong to you!
Ahh! That's right! Although....the idea that there might be some sort of "excessive coffee" is still somewhat puzzling! "excessive" would seem to somehow imply too much coffee as a bad thing!
tulc(the only way there is too much coffee is if it starts pouring over the lip, and that's why the good Lord invented staws!) ;)

I like that idea. A volunteer committee of both staff and non-staff who can look over cases. It should be made up of a diverse cross-section of CF members: both goody-goodys and people who have had lots of staff trouble. Veteran members (3+ years) and newer members (less than a year).

Sounds interesting! But how would one chose those non-staffers from the CF population? also, geography should be taken into account. A member from the USA would certainly think entirely different about a problem than someone from Europe or Asia (or Oz for that matter!)

SEN's will mean nothing as part of the reform. ;) Only warnings will count and they will be called something else.

What about unofficial warnings? Will the reform address these also, since they ARE taken into consideration by staff!

Well, Rochir, Robert also seems interested in the idea of doing something to make the staff's job easier in return. That makes three of us.

Uhm ... like providing crumpets & tea to them?;)

Also, I agree that we have TOO MANY forum rules.

As part of the reforms I am proposing we will be consolidating this.

Hi Erwin,

I was wondering whether it would be easier and less mod intensive to scrap the rules. Why not have one rule. Treat all other posters in a civil manner. Any breach of this could be dealt with easily by the mods. As I see it the rules are so fussy and open to interpretation that more often than not they are used to close down debate rather than encourage it. As far as all the stuff about 'forcing' a kind of artificial reverent respect for Christianity, I just don't agree. There is nothing that anyone can post on any forum which can damage Christ or Christians. People should be free to say whatever they like in a civil way.

Anyway, just a thought. (Plus I think there is a litigation issue also, if you undertake to protect people from certain behaviour and fail you are in a worse situation than if you allow everyone to post at their own risk, and attemt to moderate excessive rudeness.)

hello Erwin, this is my own opinon that we should be free to say whatever we have to say. as christians, we should not have any kind of rules. we are under God's rules. we can always put on ignor list if someone is intorelable to respond. ( i have many of them.)

we have our own opinion of what is rude or unloving. actually we are not tolerant of the straight words. we love sugarcoated words. we should let God decide if we are loving or not loving . thanks. i hope you read mine too.

Good idea, I think the rules are too strict and its obvious quite a few people also believe they are too strict. I had a thread regarding trolls closed because it wasn't "news" in the Members News forum but does someone reaching a certain number of posts really constitute news?
