Public Apology from Erwin

Hi

It has come to my attention that some moderators have been particularly heavy-handed in their moderation and acting outside of our moderating guidelines.

For example, some posts or threads have been deleted when they do not break our rules. Deleting of posts and threads are the LAST resort.

We have over 100 staff so you can understand that keeping track is difficult.

Obviously we have fallen short of providing proper training.

For the members who have been affected, accept my direct and personal apology.

We are dealing with staff training at the moment.

Also, I agree that we have TOO MANY forum rules.

As part of the reforms I am proposing we will be consolidating this.

As discussed, the reforms will be introduced ideally by early next month.

Wow, Erwin, this is a pleasant surprise. I must admit there have been about 4 friends of mine who left because they perceived unfairness in their "warnings"... and I sure hate to see that. I am still hanging in there, and am looking forward to seeing the changes. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.

good point about apologies, especially from someone not directly responsible who still humbles himself to bring peace and love where there is strife and division.

I've been an administrator at several sites, including my new Christian site, so I definitely know what you're talking about. It's not your fault; some people are just too immature to be moderators.

The too many rules thing... I've only been around for a few months, but I was pretty overwhelmed by all the rules when I first got here. I didn't even read them all - I just assumed I'd be good . Anyway, I'm glad to see they will be reconsidered.
