Thank you Cory533 for clarification on that note and I am glad that you did not take it as an offence but rather as a pointer into a type of method that had to be refurbished overtime.
Oscarr, thank you for clearing me up on the history and process of how the prophetic has evolved over time into its present form. I was never aware until now how some denominations have been a bit reserved into the delivery of a prophetic word.
As I have mentioned in the past, I enjoy the worship with any denominations regardless of the level of how much room the Spirit is given. I have restrained myself in the past to give a word especially in a Pentecostal circle because I did not grow up in that circle. Even when I feel a strong urge to step out in faith, I don't because I believe that their own should be exercising the gift for the benefit of their circle.
As for the first person and second person delivery, I need to be clear in this. When I give a word, it's always in the person deliver and as I've already mentioned, God can speak for Himself and I am more than happy and blessed to be a vessel as He wills when He so chooses to speak through me as a mouthpiece.
When I speak in a second person delivery, anything mentioned is my own opinion. It may be presented as an inspiration and may even sound very prophetic but it's not a prophetic message. I realize that some people are more comfortable with this approach and as Cory533 mentioned, it's probably a cultural difference.
I would prefer, again, with the OP's orchestration on this thread that the participants provide equal opportunity to judge the word given whether it's a first person delivery or second person delivery with respect to the vessel being used. It's easy to call anything or imply anything of the "devil" as our Lord Jesus Christ was often accused of.
A word from the Lord is His alone and He will not share His glory with another. It's understandble that God cannot physically take over a person and start typing on a key board. After all He is a spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. In the same manner, when He chooses to speak through me, the natural man must step aside and allow the spirit man to become a vessel so that the anointing of the Holy Spirit can pour forth freely and speak as He wills.
Didn't Jesus say that I and the Father are one? The Jews and the scribes called that a blasphemy. Jesus also mentioned that because he was treated as such, we, as His disciples, would not be treated any better. I've seen some fairly hefty debates taking place in this forum over some arguments based on their own understanding of the scripture.
I have also seen some well meaning disciples get "stoned" for standing on their belief in scripture as it is given. It's interesting that the "scribes" mentioned in the bible are the ones who are literate. The same scribes appear to be prominant speakers in these forums as those who were 2000 years ago. Today, are we not all scribes? We're doing a good job in inscribing our beliefs over the net regardless of our location and making followers of those who would believe.
My heart goes out to all those who the Holy Spirit would like to train and equip that they too may go out and provide word for brothers and sisters out there who desperately need to hear from Him. His word is His promise for them. His word is His will for them. His word is something that can only be delivered in spirit and in truth.
It can't be delivered with the intellect. This is where we as scribes can seriously question the content because it's easy for us to require, "proof", "show me the scripture" so on and so forth. Some emotional content may be involved but that's only because the Holy Spirit can reach into the most deepest recesses of the heart and bring to surface what has been laying there dormant.
I am not a prophet nor am I an apostle but I can speak with the same authority as Jesus spoke as a disciple can only become the same as his teacher. He has given us that latitude to become as He is because as He is in heaven, so are we down here on earth. It was because He spoke with such authority that people were drawn to Him in His time. I believe when a child of God speaks with the same authority as He spoke that many are drawn to Him and as He is lifted up, He will draw all men to Him.
He is lifted in the very words that are spoken when a child of God speaks a prophetic word because the Holy Spirit doesn't draw attention to Himself but to Jesus Christ our Lord Who is the One Who is glorified. I have seen some very powerful anointing and I have seen those who have been bound by the devil released as a result of being given a prophetic word in the first person delivery and to this day those people are being used profoundly by God to serve Him whole heartedly.
I am not here to debate. I am only here because there are people of God out there who have been bound by the devil but like our Lord Jesus Christ said that the thief came not but for to kill steal and destroy. Our Lord Jesus Christ came that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly. How else can they have it more abundantly unless they hear from Him Who loved them and gave Himself for them that He might deliver them from this present evil age?
Thank you Oscarr for clearing a few things up. If the Lord is going to set His house in order, then we need to give Him that freedom to do so for where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. He is the One that will make the crooked places straight. The Holy Spirit is the One Who will guide us into all truth and His word is truth. May His vessels be given the freedom to express His glory that the Son may be glorified, Him Who sits on the throne and has His enemy as a footstool beneath His feet. Shalom.
