  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I would like a word too, anyone?

You need to know that there is nothing impossible for the Lord to accomplish through you. Whatever is impossible for men to accomplish, is always possible for the Lord to achieve. Therefore, because it is impossible for you, there is little use in spending a lot of time and effort doing things in your own strength trying to open the doors that you want to have opened to you. You will only exhaust yourself and become drained of faith and hope. Many have lost their faith in the Lord because they have tried and failed. And because they have tried and failed, they have believed that the Lord has failed them.

It is not that the Lord has failed them. They have failed themselves because they have tried to do in their own strength projects that were impossible for them to do. Their quest is comparable to the Round Table knights' search for the Holy Grail - something which does not exist and is a figment of imagination. People have fantasies, and then base their faith on them and wonder why they fail. They imagine that their fantasy is the will of God, and they try to find texts from Scripture to give them support for their self motivated schemes. But it is all vanity, because the Lord is not leading or motivating them. The Holy Spirit is far from them.

Don't be like that. Seek the Lord until you know His will for you. Let the Holy Spirit motivate and lead you before embarking on projects and schemes. It is better to do nothing and rest in the Lord than to waste your energy on useless and vain schemes which are the product of empty imagination and self ambition.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and become clear to someone who is content to wait for the Lord. It is through faith and patience we inherit the promises of God. The good things of God, and the successful projects in the Holy Spirit come to the patient believer who seeks the face of God in prayer and meditation on His Word, and waits until the will of God becomes clear.

There are hundreds of prophets of Baal, and of self effort, and man-made religious projects who will tell you that you will be successful if you do this or that; but waiting for a prophet of God to appear to show you the way of the Lord leads to certain success. But the way of success in the Lord is not an easy way. It can be the most difficult way, full of challenges and trials, but these are just to test the gold that is already in you, and will take the tarnish off it so that you will shine.

In these last days, the prophet of God is the Lord Jesus Christ, and He speaks and leads us through the Holy Spirit. Wait before Him until the clamour and insistence of the voices of self direction and the world's way of doing things dies away, and you become quiet enough before the Lord to hear His still small voice. Jesus said that His sheep know His voice and they will follow Him. You will know His voice when you begin to hear it. This is the Father's beloved Son, hear Him and walk in His ways.

Oscar I'm sorry but i can't really relate to much of the content in this word. I'm not embarking on any "projects and schemes." I do need to seek the Lord more though.

Okay. That's fine. Just file the prophecy away somewhere and read it again in a couple of months time. Sometimes a word can be given that may be relevant in the future. We give prophetic words by faith. If it doesn't speak to you right now, file it away and move on. You are not obliged to accept any word of prophecy that does not speak to your heart.

I needed to hear this word myself. I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out how to accomplish starting a new ministry and I was thinking along these same thoughts already.

Thanks Oscarr!

Thanks for that. This follows the forum rules then because a word given is also applicable to others whom the Holy Spirit wants to talk to, even it the person it is pointed at originally does not see it as relevant right now. This shows me the value of putting these prophecies on the public forum for all to read. It gives opportunity for the Holy Spirit to speak to others as well.

Help. If anyone can hear from God for me, I really need it.
Can't seem to hear anything myself.... and am scared.
Thank you.

I have just been appointed as the taxi driver for my family to go on a shopping trip to a local mall. I will think about your request and see what comes when I get back (that is of course if my daughter doesn't beat me to the computer first!!!)

God is there weather you hear Him or not and He doesn't always respond to your expectations. Why in the world would you be scared? All you have to do is turn to scripture where it describes God as omnipresent and omniscient (Jer 23:23-25; Psalm 139). Are you looking for a god who will tell you what you want to hear or respond as you expect Him to? It doesn't always work like.

Hey guys...could use some prayers about now...

Every so often I have bouts of extreme depression and panic attacks, and unfortunately this time I've been having major insomnia as well.

I'm not suicidal, but stress in my life is very great right now. So any prayers would be much appreciated

Help. If anyone can hear from God for me, I really need it.
Can't seem to hear anything myself.... and am scared.

I don't know whether I can give a prophetic word for this, because I sense that it is an issue of communication between you and the Lord in your private prayer time. So I will give you my thoughts and if they speak to you and encourage you to see things from a slightly different perspective we will both be blessed.

God speaks to us all the time; it is knowing how to listen, and to be able to accept what He is saying to us by faith. God's voice is a still small voice often indistinguishable from our own thoughts. Often we have thoughts and insights into the things of God and we think they are just our own thoughts when actually they have come from the Holy Spirit to guide our thinking and actions.

God's voice is not always in the dramatic, so some would have us believe. We can be made to feel inferior when other Christians rave on about how they heard from God, as if God speaks in a louder voice to them than He does to the rest of us.

Here are the ways I think God speaks to us, other than the dramatic and audible.

He speaks to us through the insights we get from the Bible.
He speaks to us through our Christian brothers and sisters when they share the good things of God with us.
He speaks through our circumstances and the lessons we learn from them.
He speaks through the "hunches" we get about situations and people; when we feel that we need to go and see someone, or to telephone them; or not to go and see a certain person, or go to a place. We always get positive and negative feelins and impressions about things. Often it is the Holy Spirit speaking to us about them, either giving us the freedom to be involved, or a warning to keep away.
What we think is our own judgement about something, may be the Holy Spirit. Some times, when I have gone against an instinct, something has gone wrong which would not have gone wrong if I had used my better judgement. Maybe my 'better judgement' in the issue was the Holy Spirit leading me and I was not quiet enough to listen and take heed.
He can speak to us through the sermons at church. This has happened to me many times.
One of the most pleasant and satisfying ways is when I get a whole new insight into something - something I never knew before - like a revelation about something I knew in my mind, but it wasn't in my heart. I got that when I went to one of our Prophetic Equipping days and learned about imparting healing and other good things from the Holy Spirit in me. I thought at the time it was a good idea but felt that I wasn't going to get too enthusiastic about it. On the way home in the car, suddenly I got the full revelation of it and the way it can be a real blessing to the lives of others. I then came on the forum and imparted all sorts of stuff to all sorts of people. I had a lot of fun, and it is something that is a natural part of my ministry.
So God can speak to us in all sorts of ways, and we miss a lot of it because we are not looking for the Lord in those directions. We are waiting for some bolt from the blue, or some dramatic prophesy, when the still small voice of God is whispering to us all the time.

Sometimes the Lord speaks to us through our own daydreams. We get mental pictures all the time, and how do we know that some of them are not visions from the Lord?

How do I get prophetic words? I get just a small thought - like a "seed" thought. It can be so quiet, I have to listen very carefully for it and make sure that it is a thought that has not come through my normal train of thought. It is a thought that can be quite new, different, insistent. I can't describe it any better than that, but when it comes I know that it is the "seed" thought that I have asked for.

I asked the Lord once how I could know his voice when He wanted to speak to me. He told me, "If I hear your voice a lot in prayer, then you will start hearing My voice when I speak back to you." So I became very honest and open in my prayers and raved on to God about all sorts of things; my hopes, dreams, ambitions, my opinions about bits of His Word, questions about spiritual things, my opinions of others, especially the ones who annoyed me (He's happy to listen to that). Often I would end up in these discussions where I would start to get new insights into the questions I was asking, and it was only later that I realised that the Lord was answering my questions through my own mouth as I discussed the issues with Him.

I love prayer, because it is my chance to have a good discussion with the Lord. He is not worried that you do all the talking because He can speak back to you while you are still talking. He can put thoughts into your mind that give you new understandings of spiritual things. He is not limited.

Some people say that we should not talk too much when we are praying. I say no to that. The problem is that we talk too little about the things that are really important to us. We say the things that we think he wants to hear, instead of pouring out our hearts to the Lord about the things we really want to say to someone who really cares about us.

I used to burden my friends with all my troubles, woes, ideas, and questions; and one day the Lord put a thought in my mind: "Why are you telling everyone else the things you should be telling Me?" That brought me up with a jolt. I thought, why am I doing that? After that I stopped talking to my friends about stuff and got out on lonely beaches, golf courses, etc and talked myself out to the Lord. It has been a wonderful experience, because through it, I have learned so much about how to communicate with God and how He communicates with us.

Well, those are my thoughts. I hope that they are helpful to you to allay your fears and to see new ways in which you can recognise the Lord speaking to you.

Hey Oscarr....thanks for sharing your experience with us. I can tell you have really been through these things, growing in God.

I can relate to alot to what you say because I have had some of the same experiences....like hearing from God while you are speaking. I always get alot(word from God) when I am counseling with someone who is going through a traumatic experience. I am amazed sometimes, the things that come from my mouth for them, I have never even thought these thoughts before. I get such a blessing just seeing God minister to them through me. Many times I get as much out of the sessions as the people do.

That's why we have to keep putting the word of God into us. So that when the time comes to use it, the thoughts and words that come are God's thoughts and not our thoughts.

Romans 12:1....present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Thanks Jimmie

I'm trying to be positive and look for the good in things, but found out today, that as of June 1, 2008, my BF will be getting sent to train-up for 3 months, and deployed to Iraq for 9. They've also gone and changed his MOS from signal and (something to do with intelligence op.) to the equivalent of MP, meaning rather than being at the fab, he will be out on patrol and doing convoys, which he technically was not trained to do....and it will being putting him in a more dangerous setting. Supposedly this mission is very risky. :sigh: Sooo...I'm just NOT a very happy person at the moment.

I suppose it just feels so contradictory to what I've been reading in the Bible and the book "Waking the Dead" that I have been going over in my quiet time, and it's been awesome. Just the words from that book and how it relates to scripture, and how man and woman were not only made in the image of God, but we were made to bear His glory. And that in bearin His glory is when our souls can truly become alive and flourish in a life in Him.

Well, some good news from this is that it really has gotten much safer in many areas over there contrary to what you always see on TV. And statisticlly it is safer in Iraq than Washington DC. (no kidding I read that somewhere). I know how you feel though because it's looking like I will be over there next fall.

Have a good Sunday and rest of the week.

Heather i understand your concern for your BF however sister you should be soooo very proud of him and his mission.
Man may have many reasons for our presense in the middle east but please understand Heather our and other nations presence is what stands between Iran [ and all islamic nations] and Israel.
If we were not at the border of iran they would have already attempted to destroy Israel. Our presense is protecting Israel from the nations of the world set on destroying Israel.
If these nations can destroy Israel then they realize this will make the Bible a lie. By protecting and defending Israel we are upholding Gods Word.
And each and every day Israel is not attacked by the nations of the world is one more day the deciples of Jesus Christ has to shine the light of Christ to those lost.
The battle God is placing your BF in is a battle we have all been in sense our birth, there will be winners and there will be losers some will go to heaven and yes some will go to hell.
But understand its a battle we are all in like it or not you are in it as well.
The battle beteen good and evil rages within hearts, minds, sociities and nations.
The treat to you Heather is as great as it is to your BF. The battle rages for our very souls daily. Discouragement and doubt can be as deadly as any roadside bomb.
Great pride and honor follows the knowledge knowing your BF has been chosen by God among many others to help stand between Israel and its enimies.
Your BF and the thousands of other soliders are protecting the seed of Jacob, the apple of Gods eye, the city where Jesus Christ will return and his kingdom the New Jerusalum will come down from the sky.
Praise the Lord !! each day your BF serves and Jimmie and all the others serving is one more day for the lost to turn and hear Gods call !!
These soliders stand and defend the bridge between the nations of the world who since the very beginning has seeked to destroy Israel.
The rod shall pass from Israels hand to Christs hand and God is using your BF and many others to see to that !!
