  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

KayKay, hope your husband is feeling much better and the office computer issue has been resolved.

Again, asking for prayers for Samantha -- and so appreciative for all the prayers already. I received an email from my cousin asking for more prayer for Samantha as she is back in the hospital. I was happy to tell her that Samantha is covered in prayer all over the world. :hug:to all of you Golden Eagles for you concern and steadfastness.

Prayers for Samantha.:prayer:

Also an update about my husband~ turns out he is having gall bladder problems causing his symptoms, and they want him to have surgery. It is not an emergency though. He is feeling better. Thanks for the prayers. He has an appointment with a surgeon on Jan 5th. We'll take it from there, I guess.

Office computer situation is "under control" but they are still battling it.

Continuing in prayers for Samantha, for the upcoming surgery for your husband, KayKay and the computer virus' total deliverance, and deeply encouraged by that praise report Jan!! Wow . .

I wonder if there is deliverance ministry from being sick of winter? :p (OK, only half kidding here . . just been listless lately and finding it harder to be positive with all the storms and extreme cold)

I'm feeling the loss of my parents very acutely this Christmas, even though they died years ago, and am finding the sadness overwhelming :(. It's days since I slept properly, and feel very alone as those around me are not aware of how I feel, and have their own issues/problems.

Father, who art in Heaven
who gives us our Daily Bread
who is aware of the content of our hearts
and who knows our needs before we can desire them
remind us, that man, will spend so-little 'time' in the world
and that by your divine mercy and grace we can
grow towards you more nearly each day
open our hearts to the knowledge
that our death in this world, is the passage of our souls
into everlasting-life with you
and that the passing of our nearest and dearest will be
only for a brief moment in your eyes, so that we will
be reunited, one with another, for ever and ever

amen

Ah, Dave, you're so right. We WILL be seeing those who've gone on before us soon, and though we miss them so much at times, the holidays most poignantly, they are in such an exquisitely wonderful place that they would surely wish us joy here on earth while we await the reunion. Sue, I wish you could sense our hearts reaching out to your feelings of loneliness in this season of what is often such unrealistic expectations. I pray that He would give you a settled sense of peace and a filling of your heart with quiet joy that you would find a strength beyond yourself to reach out and fill other's empty cups.

I know I need this as well. I've been feeling so put-out at giving and giving and giving to those I work with, who have such heavy hearts this time of year as their innumerable losses become all the more apparent . . but mercifully, God gives us strength beyond ourselves when we ask of Him.

Oh yes, I cried when Mum left us, as did all of her children
but, I haven't LOST her !

She goes with me [silently, and oft-times beyond thought]
but with-me nonetheless, for, she, is within every cell of my being
her 'handwriting' her 'cooking' her 'gentleness' her 'resolution, to comfort all'

No, I haven't lost her, for, we will always be 'family' together... forever

What was it Shakespeare wrote ? 'Parting, is such sweet-sorrow'

We are, that which we are.... of that, there is no-denying
and,
'as it was in the beginning, it is now, and forever shall-be, His world without end'

:hug:s

We 'lost' three neighbours this year
with yet another, having been given two-three weeks [Two brain tumours and cancer in the spine]

God's Peace be with you and with us all

your Bro'

Thank you for your replies, but one of the sadnesses I feel, is that I'm not sure whether or not my parents accepted Jesus as their Saviour, and that is what causes the pain. I don't know that there will be a reunion. If I knew they were with God I would be such a happy person, but although I think they might be I'm not sure. Mum had a regard for God, and taught me things about Him, and was so tender and loving, but I just don't know what decision she made about salvation. I lost her when I was twenty, and as well as my fear for her and my own loss, it also caused the trauma I suffered in foster-care to surface (they were my adopted parents whom I went to at one-year old). Dad died when I was 39, and I think He accepted the Lord at the end of his life, but I'm not 100% sure.

On both occasions I just got on with things, but a few years ago, triggered by other events, my mind just shut down, and since then God has been making me face these losses and also deal with the trauma of my foster-care experience. It is painful at times, as He warned me it would be and I have put coping mechanisms in place, until I am stronger. Christmas knocks these mechanisms out of touch, so is a particularly difficult time.

Thank you for your prayers and comfort. I am sorry that your mother left you Dave, but am glad that you have such lovely memories of her. You wrote so beautifully about her. Worddancer, I pray that you will not be overwhelmed by others' problems. If you've put them into God's hands they have become His, and you have done the best thing for them. As you say the expectations are part of the problem at this time of year.:hug:

By your own words above dear Sister Sue

If you've put them into God's hands they have become His, and you have done the best thing for them

have you not [?] put your own parents in His hands
His mercy, is everlasting / timeless
and your faith, in His love must support your belief
that those who do no-evil and repent of their sins
are the children of God

and you do not KNOW... that your parents did not
in their last moments, repent and beg of, His forgiveness

I ask you to consider the meaning of FAITH

I believe it is BELIEVING .....
without proof or evidence
that it is.... TRUST.... in a lovingly desired way...
that cannot be given-up, nor, denied

This burden, that you carry.... is, called simply; 'doubt'
and, as Christians, we, should have none
for, He, is our Saviour
our Rock in the storm
and, our Intercessor

 for your parents Sis'
for He, is so-understanding

If, for no-other reason
than, that your-parents raised a child 'like you'
and that without that foundation that THEY installed in you
you might not be you [as you are now]

Psalm23

:pray:ing for you and your parents

your Bro'

Thank you for your reply Dave and I appreciate your concern dear bro', and am very thankful for your prayers, but I don't pray for my parents now, as somewhere I think it says that we should not pray for the dead. However I appreciate your concern immensely and your words have comforted me no end.:hug:

I think one of the reasons I bonded so well with my mother, considering she was not my biological mother, was because we both believed in God. I don't think we knew about salvation. We knew Jesus was God who came to earth, but not that we needed to repent of our sins. Mum was a high church Anglican, very reverant. When I became a Christian at college it was in a Evangelical group, which was very strange to me. It seemed to separate me from my parents, and caused the early-life trauma to arise. Then Mum died, and with hindsight I think I looked for "evangelical" signs in Mum's behaviour which she never showed, and mistook their absence for a lack of faith. Now I believe that it is a heart attitude to Jesus which counts, not whether we are high church or low church etc. Also I now know I was suffering from depression at the time, and did not see things as they really were. I also know that Mum had been present when the gospel was preached (in a film called His Land), and I think she was thinking about it when she died. I think that God could reach her in her spirit (although I felt I had let her down by not urging her to accept Jesus on her deathbed; God would not punish her for my failure would He?) and it depended on her response to Him, which I do not know, but I am much more hopeful than I have been for the past 37 years.

I was a more mature Christian when my Dad died, and arranged for a clergyman to give Dad the gospel. When he was in hospital dying I found myself asking a nurse if there was a clegyman available. As it was Easter Sunday morning there was and he came and spoke to Dad about putting himself into God's hands (using the Parable of the Lost Sheep). Dad became peaceful, and the clergyman and I sang Jesus Christ is Risen Today. The power of the resurrection seemed so real then and it was special moment.

I seem to have turned this prayer thread into a testimony, but I cannot tell you how thankful I am to you Dave, and others who have prayed.  I feel so much more hopeful now, and it seems as if it will be a good Christmas after all! I think you are right. God is so understanding.. Thank you for your lovely words.

Thank you Sue

But we do not know God's will for us

We, may not/ cannot Judge ourselves...
that, is for Him [?]
and we, are, still, only human
ie: Only He, is perfect

We will always fall short of perfection
but it is in His footsteps that our salvation lies
and in His Grace and Mercy that we are absolved and forgiven

'forgiven' [?]

The Spirit has His word... no written word of, man

May you find His peace in your heart
and His Light in your shadows

GBU Sis'

your Bro'

Praying for you, Sue. It is hard often at the holidays when we have lost someone very dear to us. And you're right, often even our close friends don't understand.

I think about the scripture though where the Lord says that He is "nigh unto the broken-hearted.":prayer:

Thank you everyone for your prayers, and I feel for those of you who have also lost loved ones.:hug:

I'm only passing through this evening, as having been very ill yesterday (I could only sit with my head in my hands for much of the day) and now feeling better (Praise the Lord  and thank you for your prayers), I've had to do two days chores in one! I hope to have time on here tomorrow, but I'm expecting a very dear friend to visit if he has time. If I don't, I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, and I'll keep the requests in my prayers . You are a lovely group of people. It is so good to be part of God's family.
