  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have an unusual prayer need tonight. Last Fri. a ladies house burned almost to the ground she lives about 50 from here(Buff area) but have been hearing this story on the news. Her house burned down and there is no trace of her. She is yr. old,no car, no Alzheimer's, no dementia(according to her family) and absolutely no trace of her anywhere. The cadaver dogs have gone in twice and have found no trace of a body. For some reason they didn't start a search of the land and are going to finally send out a search party on Sat. The family and neighbors have all good things to say about her. She was a grandmother and loved and was loved by her family. This story has really touched my heart probably because she's my Mom's age and I know my Mom would not be alive after just one night out in the cold(if this is where she is) So please pray for this lady, pray that the Lord has her life already under control, even though it looks to us that it is totally out of control, that He is taking care of her and has protected her is a way only He knows how to do. Thank you all
Bless

I'm so sorry about the lady. I will pray that the Almighty watches over her. Did the woman have severe osteoporosis? Maybe the cadaver dogs couldn't pick up a scent of a skeleton. I don' t know how they are trained. But if she's very old, maybe there wasn't enough left of her to find.

Do you suspect foul play, Bonnie?

I wonder about foul play because they wait almost a week before the go out and search for her. If it was my Mom I would have been out there the night of the fire. Of course I know they aren't telling us everything but the whole thing seems a little strange. But she deserves out prayers, even though it all seems strange. Her family even seems strange. But the Lord controls everything, but we still need to pray. Thanks

Dec 29, 2006 - Two home invasions in Orchard Park early this morning have peeked the interest of police who've been looking into the disappearance of an elderly Colden woman. Investigators aren't exactly saying there may be a connection to the mystery surrounding Geraldine Jackson's whereabouts...but they aren't ruling anything out.

There are still no signs of the 87 year old woman a week after the fire that destroyed her Irish Road home. Thursday's intensive search of the ruins turned up no signs of a body. But today's early morning home invasions less than 10 miles away are raising new questions. N.Y.S. Police Lt. Steven Nigrelli: "I can tell you we have investigators working right now with the Orchard Park police department. We're interested in finding out what their MO were in those cases were and see if they match ours."

Saturday morning, Jackson's family and friends will be out searching the woods near her home..hoping to turn up any kind of clues as to what may have happened to her. Tracy Jackson, Granddaughter-in-law: "She doesn't even own car...wouldn't go out in the woods, had all her marbles so to say. Just not in character for her at all so these pieces of the puzzle just aren't fitting right now."

They're hoping for the best..but they fear the worst. Andrew Jackson, Grandson: "If we go up there and we can't find nothing with the amount of people in the area.. then somebody had to have taken her." Tracy Jackson: "She was a frail, little old lady that everybody loved. I don't know if it's just something in the area that's going on up there but it's just really bizarre."

Even though police have already scoured the area around Jackson's home...they want to go over it one more time. Tracy Jackson: "If we just knew an answer and everyone could be at rest with this.. it's just tearing us apart right now."

New York State Police, the Erie County Sheriff's Department, Colden Fire Department and State Parks rangers will coordinate the effort. Police say they realize many people would like to help look for Geraldine Jackson, but they say they have enough volunteers lined up for tomorrow. The Erie County Sheriff's Helicopter will also be used in the search.

Here's some more info about this little old lady. They had over 200 out looking on the ground and in the air still no sign of her. No they have listed her as a missing person and are starting to look at it from other angles. Please pray for guidance for all involved and keep her in your prayers.

A fire must be the most frightening scene when someone is missing, especially an older person or children. We just don't give our firefighters enough credit, do we?

Cheers, and thanks for presenting this item. Indeed prayer is the only real solution.

Cheers,

Jim
Yes and of course everyone thought it was the "family" who had done something, but after hearing interviews of the family I don't think so and neither do the police. If you saw her pic with her grandchild it just breaks your heart she had to end her life this way. But, the Lord had a much better plan for her. Yes our firemen put their lives in danger almost every time they go out, keep them in prayer

What a bizarre and disturbing situation. Still praying that by some miracle (and they do happen) that the lady is still alive and will be found.

Please pray for me. I am teaching the lesson at our Celebrate Recovery program at church tonight. My son-in-law and daughter just recently kicked-off this program at our church and the response has been great. I have never taught adults, so I am really scared. Years ago, I taught very young children in children's church, but it normally involved construction paper cut-outs and hand puppets. ^_^ Please just pray that I won't lose my mind, and forget what I'm doing and that the Holy Spirit will give me the right words. Thanks for any prayers you folks would be willing to offer up for me and the people who will be receiving the lesson.

Recovery from What? Sounds like a challenge but I am sure you would not have volunteered or been asked if you didn't have the qualifications. I will pray for you though for confidence and clarity as you present. It is the Spirit that who will teach through you so just relax and enjoy the experience. Jan

I will be praying for you Pilgrim, but I agree I'm sure the Lord wouldn't have put you anywhere near that church if He didn't already know you were just the right person for the class. Relax and enjoy it and lean on the Lord.
Thanks for still keeping that lady still in prayer. Still no new news on the situation.

My sister has come from Las Vegas to see how Mom is doing. We have started Meals of Wheels, not only for the food but as a way for someone to come to the house and make sure all is ok. Thurs. we will be starting the "Lend a Friend" program. These people come in and do a little housework, visit, run errands, and other light things. They are there about 2hrs 3xweek. The second program was put in place because she will no longer have use of the car and we didn't want her to panic and think there was no way to get out and get things and also company for her. My sister is here because she is actually the executor of everything(money, house etc.) Our brother is against all of this and he claims to be a
Christian and listening to the Lord and feels we are trying to get Mom out of the house before she needs to leave. Thank you all for your prayers, and please keep us on your lists, now that we have a family battle going on it is getting harder, pray that the LORD's will will be done and we listen to Him
Thank you all
Bless

My dear wife and I looked after her parents right to the end. The father with alzheimers, the mother with a disabling form of bronchitus..the lungs were shot and she was on ozygen. We had her living in our village house,,just a five minute drive off. Mary's brother had little or no contact. He lived 125 miles off. He and his wife even drove right past the house going to visit her friends 75 miles away.

When Mary's mother was in hospital we kept him informed every day by phone. At her funeral, before we had coffin in the hearst, his wife asked my wife, when she was going to have the will read!!!!!!! I had to walk away to hold back my anger.

We haven't seen them since...by the way, the threatended to hire a lawyer to get money from us saying his mother must have left him something.......Well, truth, we cared for the parents and we paid for everything from our pockets. The parents had nothing. The nursing home took all the father's money over two years, and the mother cost us money to keep her..She got our house for nothing over 4 years. If anything, he would get a bill from our lawyer.

Nothing seems to go well at the end, but the right people do end up in charge,,,,,,,hopefully.

Cheers,

Jim
