  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Shirley, please don't feel shame about the parasites. It's not your fault. Do you think it could be a spiritual attack - is something good about to happen and Satan is having a go at you?

I think anti-depressants can be very helpful in some types of depression, and have taken them in the past. Unfortunately they didn't work for me, but that is because my depression is related to a specific early-life experience, which God is revealing to me and healing. It takes time, but it means that I can adapt to each new revelation over a period of time.

I'm glad inner healing is happening for you too Shirley. Maybe God has allowed circumstances in our lives, to cause us to be still and rely on Him, so He can heal us. I hope your husband in continuing to feel better too, kaykay.

Continuing to pray for needs.

I just saw this today...the mites are in my keyboard...I try to stay offline more and I clean the pc all day long...LOL

I am getting some pretty deep healing from the Lord in the midst of all this pressure with the mites...have had much grace given to me to see my sins and be repentant for them...and receive forgiveness.

I don't know if something good is going to happen...each day is a challenge ... I just don't know...used to think I knew everything...a big problem of mine...I am much more humbled these days...much more dependant on the Lord, that is a good thing I think.

Shirley

PS...I am doing well on 10mg of Prozac a day...but still can go low with grief at times...it does not solve every problem.

Shirley,
I am so sorry you have been suffering from this for so long. I understand how you feel about the shame part but there is nothing to be ashamed of. We never know the things that can effect us. I will pray that this parasite will finally leave you and you can begin to heal. God bless you.

I love your username keeptrying...I still have a tinge of shame and feel unclean...something like a leper...the Lord is working with me.

I had a couple days of feeling "clean"...but feel bugged today...LOL

Keeps me in prayer for sure.

Yes, Dave, thanks for the renewed encouragement to pray for our planet. It's just scary what the future seems to hold unless we begin to make wiser (and painful) changes.

Shirley . . I am still in prayer for you, although I've added the dimension of victory over depression as well. As someone who has been melancholy to the core of my being for most of my life, let me offer the hope that there is a pathway out of it! I don't have a nice pat formula, and oh how I wish I did. But for me, it took some letting go of . . gosh, so many cherished dreams and expectations . . and trusting His will above mine. That sounds so trite and canned, and I heard it a thousand times out of other's mouths without it transforming me out of my self-pity. I suppose the truth is that He deals with each of us differently, with unique individuality. But if we are seeking Him with open sincerity, He will grant us our answers . . in His good time.

I think one truth that I didn't agree with for years was that depression is pride turned inwards. How could it be pride when I disliked myself so much? For me, at least, that was true, though I honestly couldn't see if for a long long time. There is such freedom now, to love beyond myself . . but it still takes a day-by-day decision not to slip back into old habits of self-pity and withdrawing inwards.

*smiles* None of this may apply to you at all . . just one blind beggar attempting to show where she found a little "food".

I do appreciate your prayers and concern for me...I sort of have or had a melancholy type personality too...seems to be changing tho. I'm really trying to pray more...and meditate upon the word...getting some some very good Christ centered teaching instead of man centered teaching has been a huge change for me for the better...I do believe physical infirmities...heath issues do affect depression. I just don't try to analyse it anymore, that in itself is a big relief. LOL

I try to avoid self pity too...real, simple prayer is much better. A Real learning experience.

The Lord is good.

Oh Angelwind . . I've been beating myself up with regret for posting what I did, hoping dearly not to sound sanctimonious or haughty in the slightest way. You are already in a much better state than I was not that long ago, and I know even the strongest person has seasons where we struggle . . I'm just so GRATEFUL that He never leaves us to flounder forever, and carries us more gently through the hard times, His love never wavering, no matter whether we can sense it or not . . and that there are those times of refreshing and exquisite closeness again when we seek Him with all our heart.

And I suspect the prayers of others are often the key to enduring.

I thought you were sharing honestly from your heart...nothing was said that offended me or hurt me...that you cared ... really touched my heart.

We all have seasons of struggle...that is the NORMAL thing in this life. LOL, we don't need to analyze everything I have found...what a feedom and relief that is to me...and I so agree with you about prayer...it is very humbling to keep praying for a certain problem in our lives...but God gives grace to the humble.

I have needed a lot of humbling it seems...very hard road to travel, but very fruitful in the end.

Blessings to you Worddancer in every way.:hug::hug::hug:

Dear Golden Eagle friends, I have a meeting at work tomorrow for which I am requesting your prayers! Thanks so much.
Oh, buttercup, I'm afraid I'm seeing this request too late!!!
please pray for a brother at church who is struggling desperately with depression. The meds do not seem to be helping him his wife says and give him side effects. Thanks so much. Jan
Yes, grace, will pray for him.

Thank you all for your prayers. I posted this request this morning and then left for work. I was walking to the subway I was still worried, but reminded myself that even if not for this specific request, my Golden Eagle friends all over the world were praying for me and that thought calmed me down. The meeting went well -- better than I could have anticipated. Another answer to prayer!

Oh Buttercup, I wasn't online yesterday, and have only just seen your prayer request. I'm sorry I wasn't able to support you in prayer , but praise God that your meeting went well.

Jan, I'll pray for the gentleman you mentioned , and angelwind and Worddancer (and your son) too.:hug: Depression is horrible. I wonder if sometimes we have to grieve our losses. (It's just a thought I'm throwing into the mix! It's something I've had to do, but we're all different.)

I am glad the meeting went well Buttercup I often pray even if I think I have missed the time line. Remember only we live in time God is above time he is eternal with No beginning and no end. I believe he can take our prayers offered up "late" and apply them to the "past" situation for the benefit of his will being done. Jan

Could I ask for prayer please? A recent anniversary triggered one of the severest bouts of depression I have ever had. When I'm in it I feel totally isolated, and beyond language skills, so praying and reading (as many suggest) as impossible.

Thank you

Might I gently suggest bathing your soul with music? It doesn't even have to be necessarily "Christian", anything soothing and beautiful will be a balm to your sorrow. And I will pray for a release from the binding of depression . .

Thank you

Sue, keeping you in my prayers.

Asking for prayers for my colleague, Mike, who is facing a very difficult decision. Asking for G-d's guidance for him.
Praying for both of these requests...

That's a good suggestion Worddancer. I love classical music, and it can reach me when all else can't. Thank you, and Buttercup and kaykay too for your prayers. I'm better today, but I can flip into the depression at a moment's notice when something triggers it. I know God is gradually rooting it out and healing it though.

I am so thankful for this site, and those of you who understand and pray.:hug::hug:

When in God we do trust

He is, our armourer, our deliverer, our saviour, our teacher and our refuge
He is, faithful, true and merciful
He is, ALWAYS THERE... just call out His name
and let Him dwell, in all of your life
HIS WILL, not our's [?]
For, He, is the Father and, the Son and, the Holy Ghost
Omnipresent and Supreme Majesty
Our Maker and Physician

With Love, He has domain over all
