  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have been struggling a lot with the sin of gluttony. Throughout my adult life I have eaten needlessly for the sake of pleasure, through boredom, to make me feel better when I've had a bad day. I really want to get a handle on this, but I find myself buying snacks when I go to the shops etc.

I know it is not the most important matter in the world right now, but if you have time during your prayers, and could spare a moment to ask God to help me with this struggle I would really appreciate it.

Texas is definitely in my prayers. I have a number of friends from college and seminary there and they have all been affected by the cold.

From a catechumen and the first among sinners.
My identity was stolen yesterday and Glory to God they only stole $2000.00 from my checking account which it seems like the bank is going to help me recover. I’m struggling and praying constantly but thought I’d ask for your prayers. We have to close our current account and open a new one tomorrow. Right now it’s looking like they got my information mainly through Facebook which I ironically stopped using about a month ago. We just recovered from COVID and it just feels quite overwhelming and evil to be honest. I’m doing my best to understand all of this from an orthodox perspective so if anyone has any tips to help I’d greatly appreciate it. I’ve been doing my morning and nighttime prayers, the Jesus Prayer as much as possible and some other Orthodox prayers. I got holy water yesterday and within a few hours the identity theft occurred and I’m starting to feel under attack to be perfectly honest. Please pray for me new friends.
