  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh yes, I will pray for you. When my son died, I read the last two chapters in Revelation, it really helped.
Dear Father, please lift this depression and fill her with your peace and joy, in Jesus precious name
Thank you musicalpilgrim. I'm sorry about your son, and I do remember your bereavement when I pray for you and your family.

Those chapters in Revelation are lovely. The Lord wiping every tear from our eyes - it will be so good. :)

I will pray for those who have lost family members. I'm in the same boat. It's hard to do, but try turning the depression into thanksgiving that you shared love with someone and will see them again some day.

(((HUGS))) rebornfree!

I hear you on that pain, grief and depression and you have my heart.

I found this here:

A Prayer for When You Battle Depression

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you that you never change, even when everything around me is changing and unpredictable. (Hebrews 13:8) Thank you that you are stable, even when I feel so very unstable. (Isaiah 33:6) It feels like Satan has been whipping me around! Please sustain me, protect me, and enable me to stand. (1 John 4:4; Psalm 28:7)

I know that because sin entered the world, all of creation is under a curse–all creation groans. (Romans 8:22) Because of this, I struggle physically, emotionally and spiritually. Thank you for how my body is made, and that it sends me warning signals to tell me that I need help. Right now my brain and emotions are telling me that something isn’t right.

Help me to see if there is something physical that is causing my depression. Help me to sift through my circumstances to see if there is a need for change in some way. If I am experiencing depression as a result of a spiritual battle, please bring that to light and show me the best way to fight that battle.

Please lead me to the right source for help. Thank you for understanding what I am going through (Hebrews 4:15), and thank you that Your Word tells me that even Your Son went through hard times emotionally. There were times that He was distressed, grieved, faced loneliness, experienced deep sorrow, and after the death of John He went into isolation (Matthew 14:13). He cried in prayer (Hebrews 5:7-9), and at times he was overwhelmingly sad (Isaiah 53:3). There was even a time that he was afraid his body would not survive the anguish he felt. (Matthew 26:38)

I pray that You would send someone to help bear my burden. (Galatians 6:2) Thank you for again reminding me of how weak I am, and for the body of Christ that you have provided to help bear burdens when we grow too weary to bear them alone. I need someone to come along side me, take my arms, wrap them around their neck, and help me walk until I am strong enough to walk on my own. (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

Thank you for the grace that you have provided. (Hebrews 4:16) I pray You will use this difficult time to cause me to go deeper in my relationship with You, and that You would get the glory for anything that is produced in me. (James 1)

Thank you for how you are going to use this time in my life and for all you are doing through this depression. Thank you that You have allowed my weakness to manifest itself in the form of depression, so that You can work more of Your image into my life. (Galatians 2:20; Galatians 4:19)

Thank you that I am not defined by this weakness. Since I am Your child, I am defined by what You accomplished on the cross. Because of Christ’s death on the cross, I can wake up every morning and live life knowing that no matter what I do, think, say, or feel–the cross covers it. Because You offered up Your own beloved Son, I can have peace with You and can face each day with fresh hope and grace. Help me to focus on what is true, and not focus on how I feel. As I sit before the cross, help me to gain a new appreciation for what it actually means for me on a daily basis.

Help me to embrace my weakness as a gift. Remind me that my weakness allows You to work through me even when I am so very weak and feel as though I can do nothing. (2 Corinthians 12:9) Through this time, I pray that you would enlarged my heart that I might love and obey You, and love others more deeply. (Psalm 119:32; Galatians 6:2; 2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
Amen

Praying that depression or feeling down will leave soon, and for God's peace, comfort and healing work in you, in grieving for the loss of your mother, rebornfree. I have had times of grief and feeling down also, at the loss of my father a few years ago.

I will pray for those who have lost family members. I'm in the same boat. It's hard to do, but try turning the depression into thanksgiving that you shared love with someone and will see them again some day.

But only if they are saved, Tom. My life turned from happiness to horror, at age 20, when my mother died and I didn't think she was saved, although I couldn't imagine her rejecting Jesus if she'd known about salvation. After 37 years I faced the issue and the Lord showed me when she had heard the gospel, so now I think she probably is in Heaven, but there are all the others... :(

I'm sorry about your losses, Tom, and hope that you have/will find peace and comfort. :prayer:

Thank you for your prayers Tom, musicalpilgrim, hope and faithinlife. I have mental health issues and sometimes I can't cope with the cognitive dissonance (I think that is the right phrase) between these Heaven and hell issues, and normal life. On Sunday someone had mentioned hell, hence the depression - although that's probably the wrong word - it is more weirdness in the mind. Today I have had a lovely time, walking in the sun and buying plants for my garden, but I was taken up with the normal things of life and wasn't thinking about hell so I was okay.

Thank you for posting the prayer and picture, hope (Psalm 46 is good too) and thank you all for your prayers. I'm back in my right mind now. :)

Thank you faithinlife. We were posting at the same time. :D I appreciate your prayers. It is hard missing Mum, and it's funny how grief can still be felt many years later. The Lord has been good about helping me through the (belated) grieving processes though.

I'm sorry to hear about your father, and pray that the Lord gives you comfort and peace and that the loss will turn into happy memories. :prayer:

Thank you rebornfree and everyone for your prayers concerning employment. I have had job interviews this week, and emails about jobs. Plan to call other places tomorrow about other employment ads. Hoping to have another job soon.

That's great that you've had interviews faithinlife; praise God. Praying that the Lord will lead you to the right job, and if you have several offers you will know which one to choose. :)

finally had that injection in my pelvis

it took over a week for the full benefit to show up, as steroids often respond slowly

then it wore off in a bout a week-boo hoo!

Just had an scan with contrast under my knee as my knee is stiff and tight and often very sore and heavy

Now the doctor wants to cut both wrists to stop all the nephropathy and I said no!

Good grief-I need to go outside and ride my bike and wrists in casts wont allow it

I need to get out there and exercise after sitting around too much with my hip problem

Neurologist wants to refer me to neurosurgeon due to my mri with contrast showing bad injuries and problems high up in my cervical spine and base of skull.

Now I have the proof of what my former hubby did to me when he held me down and bashed me with a closed fist right at the base of my skull repeatedly.

Hope,

You are already in my prayers every night, but now I have some more specific things to pray for. I'm very sorry to hear some of the things in your post. If you remember, I was a career police officer and saw a lot of bad things. I enjoyed putting men in jail for things like what was done to you. Please keep us posted about how you are doing.

@nChrist

Thank you for your concerns. I think the charge would have been substantial battery, maybe attempted homicide.

I lost 2 children to him, who reside in heaven now.

My story in not the only one, there are thousands of other women who suffer this way and even worse, they die.

Fearing for my very life, I told no one.

I ran, and went homeless, only to come crawling back after living on the street with absolutely zero beds available.

I remember being counseled by an officer to go to a shelter, but the shelter told me they cant make beds appear out of thin air, and bc I had no children, women with children would get priority over me.

He is dead now, but I still deal with all of the fallout from his good buddies, and feel stalked constantly.

He took himself out after I left, sneaking away and leaving him for good.

I finally got help from the dept of justice with grant money.

Thank you for your prayers.

God bless you all for being kind to me.

:!!::!!:WOW ... it's been a long time since I have shared a request. A lot has happened to me since I was here last.

:star: - I have been working in a assistant living home facility as a dietary aide since December 11th and it's been a lot of fun serving the older members of the facility.

:star: - Then in March I was pushed into being morning - waitress in the restaurant that serves the meals to the residents then I was serving the public and enjoying that that too. Made lots of good friends / customers & made some wonderful tips and worked long hours.

:star: - But here in May I decided that it was time for me to find myself a new job one that has better PAY & WEEKLY PAYCHECKS because being waitress does not caught it in a small town. I was making 5.50 + tips and getting paid every 2 weeks just was not cutting it for me. When the kids I worked with were in school it was good because I had the hours but now that they are not in school my hours were cut :(:( so what was I to do ... keep going or find something else. I checked around & thought maybe look into being a AIDE in the facility ... but that took forever for them to figure things out. :(:(

:star: - So I looked outside of town ... I came across a place that was looking for a cashier & the pay was ah just what I was looking for & I was so very happy. So, I called & she said to come in for a interview so ... I did just that an she said the cashier job was filled & asked if I would be interested in DELI CLERK JOB & I said ... sure I would be willing to learn something new & thee hours were 30 hours a week compared to the 25 I was getting every 2 weeks with the waitress job.

So, with that said as of today I'm working as a DELI CLERK, 30 HOURS A WEEK, MUCH BETTER PAY and they are working with me to have the DAYS OFF that I need.

So ... GOD IS GOOD !! So, please continue to keep in prayer with this job as it's out of state and so I am going to be needing the prayers for a mild winter as the hours I have will be a closing shift which means driving home in the SNOW if we get much at night !!

Praying for you, hope: for the right medical treatment and bodily healing. Also for the Lord's protection over you and for complete peace in His love. You seem to have had some bad experiences and I pray that the Lord will bring really good things into your life soon. :groupray:
