  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

/\ for both mentioned and unmentioned needs and intentions

Matthew 18:19-20 (NIV)

Please mention, my sister 'Janet' [3 years, my junior] in your prayers
Janet has just been diagnosed, with, cancer of her tongue
Her 'treatment' will begin this month, 'April'

Here, I am pictured with my sister
during, a THERE AND BACK, IN ONE DAY 'visit'
that I made (in my car) to Bristol, in late 2015

Mary, was too ill, for me to stay out overnight
so I arranged for her family, to make visits while I was 'out of town'

When they were replacing my hip, my surgeon fractured my thighbone aka my femur.

Because My femur is in danger of continuing to fracture, they had to install a metal cable to wrap around it and keep it from breaking any more. It will be a permanent part of my body.

I am in a nursing home because I can do any weight bearing or take care of myself.

I have also gained 11 pounds in water weight and my surgical leg is twice its normal size.

My upper thigh is numb and they said I could have permanent nerve damage.

I have to wait many weeks to see if my thigh ever returns to normality again.

True to form for most nursing homes, when I got here 6 hours ago I was supposed to have pain medication available and it's not available.

Nothing is available at all. Nothing.

Dear spice

I'm so sorry to hear things didn't go quite perfectly, but I'm glad the docs knew what to do to help fix things for you. I hope you have been given pain relief now. If not, tell the nurse to hop to it. ;) I will pray for you, spice. Don't lose hope as with God, all things are possible.

Thanks Tom and Shirley.

Nursing homes, arg! You have to wait til they get their act together and have no choice in the matter at all. I asked 7 times, and telling them to hop to it doesn't work, ha ha, plus they were supposed to pack my hip in ice to keep the swelling down.

They did not do this at all, and forgot to pack me in ice again this morning.

Pretty soon I had a three ring circus going on in my room with every tom, dick and harry coming and going and NO one knowing what to do.

It was nutz!

Even worse, they never saw the Drain in my hip and didn't know what it was and thought I had snuck in a pain pump.

UM, no, its a drain.

But the worst was saved for last, when they had to examine my body, including in between my legs to see if I had any sores.?????

YUK!

I had to get buck naked they explained to make sure I wasnt coming in all beat up or had been sexually assaulted.

What a shame about the fracture :( but I pray that it will heal quickly and that you get the medication which you need for the pain. Also praying for your hip, the swelling in your leg and that your sense of feeling will return at the appropriate time.

I also pray that you get the care which you need, and that the Lord will turn this horrible experience into a good one. Sometimes, I've noticed, when changes happen the initial stages can be hard. I think maybe Satan tries to disrupt things, but rebuke him and trust the Lord to bring about the good things He desires for you. :)

We're praying for you :groupray: and I agree with js that all things are possible with God.

Notes and thoughts...

What kind of a world do we now live in where, as the Nursing staff explained to me, care facilities have to take measures to prevent being sued over and over again, by doing a very personal examination of a new patient's entire body?

Apparently, I missed the news update, that all care facilities in the USA now have to do this total exam bc it's too easy to accuse the facility of abuse. People knowingly come into the facility with purposeful and intentional bruises all over, so that they can then turn around and sue the facility saying that they did the abuse.

To protect themselves, the staff explained to me that they now have to do it.

Apparently, there was little the facility could do to prevent fraudulent lawsuits before this requirement was enacted.

However, on the bright side, it's always a good thing to make sure that the new patient isn't coming into their care from a home where they were being abused in the first place.

Lets say prayers for all care providers, especially the ones in nursing homes, as they work so hard all day long to help those in need with the most basic of needs, such as taking someone to the toilet and also washing their bodies.

They need encouragement and to be told thank you as well, plus to be told that they are appreciated.

Please pray for me that my care providers find out why my pulse ox was as low as 69 after surgery, I spent the following 3 days on oxygen and attacheded to a pulse ox meter with an alarm.

I kept setting it off and the nurse would literally run into my room and yell at me to "BREATHE!" because I would literally slow down to the point of hardly breathing at all.

An oxygen saturation rate is good at 90's -100%, and mine was repeatedly 69-70's to low to mid 80's.

They had to keep reminding me to breathe.

Seems the impulse or drive to breathe is not quite there.

It could be due to what's causing my focal dystonia in my back. which my doctor of physical medicine said was due to brain injury.

Now a low drive to breathe could also be due to brain injury.

As rebornfree mentioned, it could have been the "godsend" that I needed to uncover a mystery brain illness.

My trouble with not having a very strong drive to inhale started after a very tragic injury to my neck and sternum when I fell onto my neck in gymnastics.

Instinctively I knew that something was very wrong, but could not get my mom to believe me nor take me to the right doctor.

Apparently, I fell on my head and should just shake it off.

So I'm very anxious and very confused lately, most likely due to not have enough brain oxygen.

I am intrigued, by your low oximeter reading

There are certainly a number, of 'potential culprits' for low oxygen take-up
such as, congestion/infection, in the Pleural Cavity or, the Bronchii

You will very-likely, be referred to a Physiotherapist,
who, will teach you 'how to breathe'
That is not, so daft as it sounds and, I am merely offering 'another view' ~of the post above [as read]
[at tremendous-distance, I might-add ]

You cannot FORGET
to-breathe
~unless: a past brain injury has damaged the portion of the brain
that has-'control', of, your autonomous reflexes (?)
Your diaphragm [muscle/membrane, beneath the lungs] it, works 'all, by itself'
ie: it is not something that we can wilfully make respond, as with hand, finger and arm movement
It functions 'autonomously' and has no need of conscious control, in order to do it's job

Even when I was in the deep throes of lung-infection 2013-2015
My oximeter reading, did not fall below 93% in room air
94% and 96% are very familiar numbers, yes I once saw 98%
sometime-after the physiotherapist, taught-me 'how, to-cough'

I thought I KNEW 'how, to cough' ?

Yes, we ALL KNOW, just how-to do 'that' ? _WRONG!!!
I learned " 'the right way' -to huff it up"
~which is so-much more 'gentle' and more-'productive'

"It is only mucus, it is your's, you CAN 'swallow-it' "

LOL, if there were any less liquid in it, I could grab a hold of it and yank it out

My saliva, doesn't drip, it clings on like gunk
and appears like clear candlewax, drooling down a glass waterfall
you try to spit it free, but somehow it clings, 'persistently'
like semi-liquid plastic

I keep digressing, sorry

Your 'breathing'
is, automatic, however, we can 'interfere' with those 'settings'
via exercise, or, taking a nap (at work and, at rest)

When, I became badly-congested and, could barely-inhale
I learned, that if, I exhaled and, kept-pushing and pushing
~to completely empty my lungs
not-only, did they fill 'all by themselves' but capacity was also increased (?)

When I 'slow' my respiration down, snoring probably arrives, with the next-breath

ha ha ha

Edited to Add:

The reason for the thick viscosity, is because I have-to limit my fluid intake
to 1.5 liters daily (from all-sources)
# 5 mugs of coffee
# cereal with milk and four mugs of coffee
# cereal with-milk, soup for lunch and 3 cups of coffee

This, to aid me, resist 'fluid-retention'... keep 'mucus' fluid, out of my lungs and my heart wall especially around the Atrium (?) left-ventricle [chamber] definitely

I also take the diuretic 'Furosemide' 40mg

I cannot go out ALL DAY after, I have had one of those

Tomorrow, isn't-promised ?

We are friends, brothers and sisters, here
I have vowed, to stick with Golden Eagles, until I am (for, whatever reason) unable, to make it in here

I owe past and present members, a debt, that I will never, be able to consider it, becoming 'paid-up'

Miggles, Angelwind, Ariel, Springrain, Big Dave and so-many others

How acceptable, is the timely word, fitly and aptly spoken ?

Well, I think that, is what I am here for, ~to pass on the love, with which I was received (upon joining)
~to comfort and support, in word and deed, referring always to 'His word'
~to supply information, advice [when, appropriate] and cheerful correspondence, with all, whom visit

Nobody, can exceed 'their, very-best'.... I endeavour to provide these things, in that vein

Praying for your breathing, spice, and for continued healing. :prayer:

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad accident when doing gymnastics (which must have been exciting but strenuous I imagine! :)). If there is any residual problem I pray that the doctors will find it, but hope that there is none and that your breathing difficulty is due to a minor cause which will soon clear up. :prayer: that the Lord leads you through this difficult time, with His tender love and care, and that you will soon feel much better.

(BTW don't forget the "comforting scriptures" thread, which is for times like these. :))
