heavenchild,

If you were born in an Islamic country, raised and educated by Islamic parents and teachers, you could perhaps ask the same question the other way around:

"Why do we need to pray to Allah for the conversion of Christians?"

In other words, we are all products of our immediate environment. Since many Christians believe that all Muslims unwilling to accept Jesus Christ as their savior will go to hell, the same belief exists among Muslims that all Christians will go to hell because they do not accept the teachings of the prophet Muhammed.

BTW, Hell has been closed due to overcrowding.

God bless, Kutte

Trouble is though, that there are so many truths floating around on this planet that it is hard to recognize the true truth. What I mean to say is this: Everyone member of a particular denomination claims to have the truth, so which one is true?

Sharon Begley once observed: "People believe a 'fact' (truth) that fits their views even if it is clearly false".

one of the negative effects of the Protestant Reformation, is that it turned what was one Christian Faith into a "Faith tradition" that has thousands of unconnected bodies all claiming to be correct.
makes it harder for people to recognize the true Church with so many denominations

Why, and before what is too late?

Why, because they are murdering Copts, and if they go on like this there won't be too many of us left? Will that do, or would someone like to give a politically correct response to this news:

Egyptian police arrest 13 Copts, victims of attack by Islamic extremists
Posted on Thu Mar 18 2010 Four minors between 13 and 17, also stopped but later released. A detention order of 15 days issued for Christians and Muslims. Charged with damaging public property, arson and assault. Association for Human Rights promotes an international conference.
Cairo (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Egyptian security forces have arrested 13 Coptic Christians - including four minors, subsequently released - victims of the attack on 12 March. They are being charged with illegal religious assembly, damage to public property, arson and assault. About a dozen Muslims, from a total of 2000 perpetrators, have been detained over the assault against 400 Coptic faithful at the Church of St. Michael in Mersa Matrouh in the north-west of Egypt.
The violence was sparked by extremists, incited by the local Imam, Mohamad Khamis Khamis, during Friday prayers. From the microphones of the mosque of Al-Ansar, located near the church of Saint Micheal, near the building that housed the Copts, the Islamist leader urged the faithful to "holy war" against the Christian place of worship, ordering its destruction, and calling for the expulsion of the "infidels."
The crowd was trapped inside the church and the Copts attacked them, raiding the homes before setting them on fire. The raid resulted in the wounding of 23 Christians, including two seriously, so who have been sent to Victoria Hospital in Alexandria, 200 km away. Sources of the local church denounced the complete devastation of 18 houses, four shops and 18 cars (pictured). "These people are completely ruined," says the activist Wagih Yacoub.
The attack on the Coptic Christian community lasted over 14 hours. The - delayed – intervention of the security forces prevented carnage. The police transported the parishioners from the church, located in the suburb of Rifiyah, to their homes, which they are patrolling to prevent new attacks by extremists.
Matta Zakaria, a local priest, reported to the agency AINA "the arrest of four children, aged between 13 and 17 years by the police." By "deception", the agents conducted the youths to the police station asking them to identify the Muslim assailants. Among young people there was also a young man who was not in church during the assault. The boys speak of "insults and beatings" by police, who ordered the release after the intervention of Copt several priests. The police have opened a file of investigation against those arrested - Christians and Muslims - on charges of illegal religious assembly, damage to public property, arson and assault. The pre-trial detention will last 15 days.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Union for Human Rights Organization (EUHRO) has called an international conference for 21 March. During the meeting the incidents of Mersa Matrouh will be discussed, caused by a "lack of a state authority," and an appeal will be made to the government to monitor the actions of the i

pray that they might come to know Christ, the true God

Not all muslims kill people. Your branding all Muslims together if people did that to Catholics based on what they heard in the news then we would all be branded as Paedophiles.

Why wouldn't we need to pray for the conversion of Muslims? Do you not care about them and the fate of their eternal souls?

Didn't she explain it had something to do with messages from our Lady?

It's a prayer thread. It couldn't hurt.

Lets not take prayer as an insult. This PC stuff has gone wayyy overboard.

We don't just have the truth, we have the Truth with a captial-T -- the Word of God, Jesus Christ.

Jn 14:6 said:
Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.

I am a former Anglican, so I have some affinity for the BCP. The Good Friday prayer is more general than the Roman Rite prayer for the Jews. The following prayer was included from the famed 1662 BCP until the 1928 revision when it was made more general:

Anglican Good Friday Prayer said:
O Merciful God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, nor desirest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live; Have mercy upon all Jews, Turks [read: Muslims], infidels, and heretics; and take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy Word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord, to thy flock, that they may be saved among the remnant of the true Israelites, and be made one fold under one shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

The Scriptural references are:

"... nor desirest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live"

Ezek 33:11 said:
Say to them: As I live, saith the Lord God, I desire not the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way, and live. Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways: and why will you die, O house of Israel?

"... take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy Word"

Jn 12:39-40 said:
Therefore they could not believe, because Isaias said again: He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

2Cor 3:14-16 said:
But their senses were made dull. For, until this present day, the selfsame veil, in the reading of the old testament, remaineth not taken away (because in Christ it is made void). But even until this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. But when they shall be converted to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.

"... that they may be saved among the remnant of the true Israelites,"

Rom 9:4-8 said:
Who are Israelites, to whom belongeth the adoption as of children, and the glory, and the testament, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises: Whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all things, God blessed for ever. Amen. Not as though the word of God hath miscarried. For all are not Israelites that are of Israel: Neither are all they that are the seed of Abraham, children; but in Isaac shall thy seed be called: That is to say, not they that are the children of the flesh, are the children of God; but they, that are the children of the promise, are accounted for the seed.

"... and be made one fold under one shepherd"
Jn 10:16 said:
And other sheep I have, that are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.

and, in general:

1Ti 2:1-5 said:
I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men: For kings, and for all that are in high station: that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life in all piety and chastity. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus

In his commentary on the 1662 BCP, Rev. Dr. Peter Toon writes:

In his Priestly Prayer Jesus moved on to pray for those who would believe on his Name, asking that they be brought together in unity and communion with the Father. So the third Collect, mindful that in the death of Jesus is a propitiation not for our sins only but also for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2), makes intercession for those living outside the fellowship of the Church of God. Prayer is offered for the Jews, who, while they acknowledge the Father, deny the Son, whose very office is to reveal the Father. Intercession is offered for the Turks [Muslims], who while they admit that Jesus is a prophet, deny that he is truly the Son of God made flesh. Supplication is made for Infidels, who know neither the true God not Jesus Christ whom he has sent into the world. And petition is made for Heretics, those who have once known and received the truth as it is in Jesus and then have corrupted and perverted it. Such prayers are wholly appropriate if it be the case that in the message of Christ crucified is the real and true salvation of the world. The aim is that they will not be merely one flock of Christ but one fold, with all divisions removed that have separated them.
...
The third is a compilation based on several of these prayers [of Holy Week] said after the Gospel on Good Friday. When these prayers were first composed and used in the fourth and fifth century there were no Muslims and so they were not prayed for. However, all other kinds and types of non-Christians were prayed for as their conversion was desired.

Prayer brought down Communism, it can bring down Islam as well.
