  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In the American government's efforts to erradicate the evil that is drugs, they have incorperated a multitude of weapons, including chemical warfare. Aerial spraying kills not only the coca, opium and marijuana fields that are the targets, but often time also kill legal crops, including food crops. It gets into their water, on their clothes, their skin, in their lungs. It kills their livestock, ravages local wildlife and leaves their land poisoned. And despite the name, these sprayings occur all over South America.

And if you don't think the chemicals the government uses are dangerous, just read the label on a bottle of "Round-Up". The government uses a similar spray made by the same company, Monsanto Industries.

Everyone raves about the immorality and dangers of drugs, but does anyone take into consideration the immorality and dangers of drug prohibition?

You've got to be kidding me. Here I am worrying about the pesticides on the produce I eat and now I have to worry about herbicides too?! That's it, I'm becoming a farmer and I'm growing my own organic food and I'm going to hoard it and never eat anything else again. :p

How would you fight the war on drugs differently? Its easy to complain without offering a solution to the problem.

I wouldn't. Drug prohibition increased crime, without stopping drugs, and have wasted hundreds of billions of dollars in the process. There is no need for it, as most of the problems which the government claims to be fighting are in fact cause by government interference.

I see. You seem to be suggesting the problems assocaited with drugs/addiction are really the side effects of government intervention. Its an odd correlation but I suppose its possible.
