  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Fantastic. :D

I think you've made the best out of what you have, and what you have is a very artistic mind and creative skill. I would love to see any other photos you have that you wouldn't mind sharing and what you see them to be.

I was really impressed as I was looking at the photo seeing it kind of come to life in my mind.

Thanks for the kind words SC!

I got a few more but here's one for now:

This is actually a puddle of old motor oil that got spilled into a cardboard I laid on the ground while changing the oil of my car. I took a picture of the puddle under sunlight (or the flash of the camera, I don't remember exactly) and again re-colored the result... The original picture looked almost exactly the same only with a different color hue.

Those things that looked like stars are actually particles of metal from the wear and tear of the car engine present in the old motor oil. I thought it looked like a galaxy so I recolored it like one!

I enjoy photography. For me it is a good outlet for my creative side. I enjoy taking pictures of architecture, scenery, animals, etc. I am not big on taking pictures of people unless they are family and friends. I don't tend to keep photos on my laptop they are stored in an external hard drive but I do have a few so I thought I'd share what I had handy. (None of these photos have been edited.)

Okay to answer @Galatea question about my favorite photo I've taken would HAVE to be this one:

View attachment 199514

The ONLY thing I did to this photo was I enhanced the contrast a little so it was darker in the background and it enhanced the shadows on his face as well. I would also love this as a painting. I don't even know if that could be done though.

Like I love everything about it. I love the fact that I was able to get this shot.. I love the face he's making, the perfectly placed shadows, the green grass, everythinggg.
There are companies that will take a photograph and make a painting for you. I would check out examples of their work before signing up with one, though, because the quality of the painting may not be very good. Your dog looks very sweet and a little wistful here (puppy dog eyes).

Ideal conditions for me. I feel at my most comfortable in the minuses.

Same. Honestly can't stand this heat we're getting. I did a 14 hour shift yesterday grafting in a warehouse that was around 36*C or higher most of the day, was awful.

Sod that. I was glad that it was my non working weekend. I couldn't imagine anything worse than sweating it out in the parlour today. The cows get lazy too, and it just DRAGS.

How to be a photographer on Deviant Art:

Step 1: Take a picture of anything using a smart phone.
Step 2: Use a filter to make the picture black and white.
Step 3: Congrats! You are now an artist!

Hmmm.

My step father is a professional photographer, and he used to make a solid income out of it. Not now though, sadly. Everyone's got a smartphone and a platform to upload images onto.

What they don't realise is that you'll never in a million years match the ability of a professional, not even with the best technology and the best websites. The quality is just superior.

Some of the images in his portfolio literally look 3D. And we're going back to the 90's here. I can only imagine what he can do today.

Also, what kind of photography did your stepfather do? Portraits? Nature?

Anything and everything pretty much. Spent a lot of time on cruiseships, paparazzi events and weddings. I think he still dabbles a bit here and there.

And this was taken from the quadbike at 04:40 this morning. Feel it man. Feel it.

The first photo is my favorite @Post Tenebras Lux everything about it is perfect to me. The fog, the coloring, the building peeking behind the tree. It's awesome. Great shot. :)

It's photography to me! :) That elephant heart is fascinating! I love seeing photos of things like this.

Thanks for the kind words SC!

You're welcome! :)

That is SO cool. It really does look like a galaxy with stars. That is just awesome. It's mind blowing how you can take something and make something completely different out of it. Very awesome :D

Another thing I did with a white cotton shirt. This time I tried to make it look like an ocean rogue wave.

View attachment 199574

When I saw this I immediate thought "that looks exactly like a deep ocean with a wave!" That is crazy how just something so regular and ordinary could be turned into something so different. It seriously looks like an ocean.

The only very few real life subjects I took. My sister in the picture. My sister also does photography as a hobby.

Beautiful photo! I like the colors in this photo and the fog. :)
