Day 28 - China

House churches in the northeast have reported newed efforts by the Eastern Lighting cult to recruit new members. They are now targeting refular believers as well as leaders, but still employing the age-old temptations of money, sex and power to entice naïve Christians. Please pray that believers will be alert to the ways of the enemy and not become prey to this vicious and evil cult.

Day 29 - China

Remember the workers labouring among China's minority people, usually in the mountainous south or arid northwest. Living conditions are very difficult and they often scrimp and save by sleeping out in the elements and having a poor diet. Many suffer from poor health as a result. As God kept and nourished the prophet Elijah, please pray that same for these workers. Pray too for Open Doors as we introduce self-suffiency to try to alleviate their poverty levels.

Day 30 - Southern Sudan

A local pastor has started a small congergation under a couple of mango trees, where the locals used to drink. A number of locals attend the Sunday sermons sporadically, and numerous people dislike the intrusion of the pastor. Pray for his safety and that his zeal will not flag under the stenuous opposition (a local witchdoctor has threatened him).

Eritrea
Please pray for the imprisoned Christians in Eritrea, asking the Lord to give them strenght to remain faithful and for their protection against abuse ( especially the women). For the families of the prisoners, pray that they will experience God's love and providence in every circumstance, in spite of their hardship.

Sunday 2nd April - Eritrea

Pray for Church leaders to remain faithful to Christ and courageous in their ministries in spite of the pressure. And please ask for the Lord's protection on the Christian military conscripts forced into frontline battle.

Monday 3rd April - Eritrea

Please pray that our Petition would move the Eritrean goverment to confess to the appalling treatment of Christians in Eritrea. Pray that President Afwerki would be filled with remorse and moved to act justly.

Tuesday 4th April - Southern Sudan

The first term of training for pastors and women at our Multi Purpose Training Centre (MPTC) ends this month and more than 100 students will be flying back their different home villages across Southern Sudan. Please pray for travelling mercies and that the will implement what they have learned.

Wednesday 5th April - Southern Sudan

A part of the Lord's Resistance Army is based in North Eastern Congo, not far from the MPTC. Please pray for God's protection against attacks. Also pray that our students and lecturers will be protected from various illnesses and diseases. Last year many people contracted Malaria.

Thursday 6th April - Uganda

Please pray for the Ugandan Church to gain a better understanding of the reality of Muslims planning to claim Africa for Islam. Pray that Christians in Uganda will open their hearts and homes to Muslim background believers and that more pastors realise the importance of training church members to reach out to their Muslim neighbours.

Friday 7th April - Nigeria

A nursing school in northern Nigeria's Sokoto state, was closed down in February following the suspected kidnapping of a Christian student by Islamic militants. Extremists had accused Ladi Mohammed of blasphemy against the Muslim prophet Muhammad. Pray for her protection and safety.

Saturday 8th April - Ethiopia

Open Doors has received reports about officials conspiring with Muslim leaders to restrict the movement of church ministers. Church leaders are already verbally warned not to enter areas where MUslims dominate. Please pray for wisdom and courage to continue their ministry unhindered.

Sunday 9th April - Tajikistan

The majority of people living in the inaccessible Pamir Mountains belong to the Ismaili branch of Islam and the few isolated Christians face great pressure from soceity. Some Tajik Christians face poverty and ill health to reach the Pamir people. Please support their courageous efforts in prayer.

Monday 10th April - Afghanistan

It is very risky for Christians to be involved in distribution of Bibles and Christian literature. Those involved understand the dangers; one of them said, "I took up my cross and I'm ready for prison, even death." Please pray that the Lord would go before them so they can meet the growing need for materials.

Wednesday 12th April - Afghanistan

Christian radio programmes are being broadcast into the country and some are made especially for women. Please pray they will continue to be able to broadcast and that the programmes will touch many Afghan hearts. Please continue to pray for peace and stability.

Thursday 13th April - Philippines

Please uphold the few believers in Isabela, Baslian, that God will use them to be a channel of blessings to other people from the Muslim Sama tribe. Pray that their weekly Bible study will help them grow in love for the Lord Jesus. May God continue to stregthen them spiritually.

Good Friday 14th April - Philippines

Four new believers in Rio Hondo came to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ when they were healed physically and they are now attending a weekly Bible study. Please pray they will grow in their faith and that God will use them to share their faith with their non-believing relatives and friends.

Monday 17th April - Indonesia

Please continue to pray for Rebekka, Rtna and Eti, who remain in prison in Indramaqu, West Java, after their appeal was denied. Pray also for the visit of three women from Open Doors, that it will bring encouragement to these three sisters.
