    Unconditionally - NO!
    Conditionally - YES!

Those who BELIEVE in the SON are NOT condemned. But those who do NOT believe the SON are condemned already.

Jesus says that those who endure until the end of their life or end of the world "will be saved." So let's say that today you are saved because you believe what Jesus says and do them. You have become "in union" with him by becoming a member of "his church."

Tomorrow, you do something that gets you EXPELLED from "his church" and like a branch that is separated from the vine, you get separated from Jesus - and you die.

Sad to say but you won't meet Jesus when he comes again.

I believe in Conditional Eternal Security. Has nothing to do with "works" or with "losing" your salvation.

Rejection of the Saviour can occur after salvation. God doesn't turn us into puppets once we believe. Many can and do fall away. If they couldn't or didn't, it wouldn't be addressed in the Bible. :)

Why would a person reject what they know as truth, for what they know is a lie?

I have found no verse any sweeter than 1 Peter 1:23: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. What exactly does this verse say? We know right away that the verse is speaking of salvation because it refers to “being born again.” The verse states that when we are reborn or receive Christ that we are born of a seed that is not corruptible. The Greek word for corruptible is phthartos which has the meaning of “perishing.” According to this verse we are not born again of corruptible or perishing seed. The verse uses the word “incorruptible.” The Greek word for “incorruptible” is aphthartos, which has the meaning of “imperishable” or “immortal.” After dissecting this verse extensively what do we find? The verse is clearly saying that once we are born again, the seed that is implanted within us is immortal and will never die. Basically, the salvation that we receive will never die. It is indeed an eternal salvation.

I reckon you ought to ask some folks that have walked away.

    Here is an example.

Alcoholic comes to church, visits several times. Each visit it is obvious that he is under conviction. Finally, he comes forward and gets marvellously saved. Soon he is a member, going out on visitation, singing in the choir, even teaching Sunday School. The fruits of the Spirit are very evident in his life.

Years later, he's fallen off the wagon. Drunk and living like hell, literally. A feller runs into him and tells him all about Jesus. Drunk says, I'm saved, and can name the time and place he called on Jesus to save him. Tells about his SS work and everything. But goes right back to drinking and living like hell.

Feller witnessing to him walks away and thinks, That guy was never saved. He just got a good dose of religion. Goes back to the same church and reports the situation. Everyone there agrees, he was never saved to begin with.

Now, here is the issue. He got saved in an OSAS church where the preacher preached that he could never lose his salvation or ever again be unsaved. In fact, he taught it himself in that Sunday School class. He believes that he is saved.

I don't believe he is saved - I believe he rejected Jesus as Saviour.

You, the feller who witnessed to him, don't believe he is saved either, in fact you believe he was never saved.

    We agree. He's not saved.

You've made him a two-fold child of hell because he's not saved but because of your teaching, he thinks he is. Think on that for awhile.

If there could be no turning away from the faith, then Paul would never have mentioned it in these places:

    2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

To fall away you have to be in the faith.

    There is also:

1 Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

I know that it goes against the OSAS grain, but the Bible does teach that you can reject your salvation.

I would say that beleif is not the same as knowledge.

Not, actually. This verse is not for an indicidual, but for a churhc body.

Paul is warning them, that if they le ta man in to lead them, who is preaching a flase doctrine, that the church a sa whole will slowly be led down the wrong path. And becasue of that, new "members" of the church will be decieved becasue the church body fell away from God's grace.

This doe snot mean that the current saved will fal away, they know the truth, but it means that the church as a whole, will fall away, becasu of the false doctreine being taught to the new members of that church.

NOtice in the begining of that verse, that no one can decieve a true Christian. And, the only time a person of a church is decieved is if the church responsible for that soul has already fallen away.

this verse is saying that the church needs to keep the doctrine it is teaching under check constantly. If it is not, then the church should be dissolved or else the false Doctrine will continue.

As in the previous verse, this one to is not talking about personal salvation, but of the role of the church, and keeping the role of the church pure.

I agree that a person can reject what they do not know. A person can reject thier salvation.. if they are not saved. BUt once salvation is accepted, how can it then be rejected?

I leave you with my original question:

How cna a person who knows the truth, reject that truth ofr what that person knows is a lie?

Also, it wasn;t the Christian faith, or the Doctrine of once save alway save that "made" him this.

It was a lack of understanding on his part, in conjuction with a flase representation of salvation on the part of the church he attended.

Jeff, explain this verse. Especially what the last part is saying.

Phillippians2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

    Thanks!

To me it says it is between you and God, nothing else. I have abided by this scripture believe me. And I know I am sealed for eternity to be with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. That is not for you to decide.

"Phillippians2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."

 I thought it was funny how you quoted Phillippians and you cut out 2:6 out of your bible ;) "Who, being in the very nature (or form of) God..."

This is to say that you should be christlike, although you are saved, and romans makes this apparent, you should act like Christ. I think 1:27-28 explains this perfectly..."Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, Then wheather I come and see your or only hear about yu in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be dstroyed, but that you will be saved-and that by God."

Works are how you show other people you are a christian. but according to Paul as he writes the galatians he makes is absolutly clear it is by faith alone we are saved.

    LouisBooth,

St. Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man (Jesus) shall come in the glory of his Father (God) with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Now explain to me, why every man will be rewarded according to his works and not faith?

Keep believing that you don't have to do anything, but have faith.

Faith without works, is dead.- Remember that.

At this point in time, we have already been saved.. we were esxcused from the Great White Throne Judgement.

Salvation has already happen, and without the need for works.

These works, are works we did, after we were saved.

Back up what you are saying with the bible.

Don't let the devil fool you.

According to a lot of false teaching, everyone is saved. No boby is going to hell. Everyone is going to heaven.

That's all you have to do is confess that Jesus is your personal saviour.

Judgment day will prove the false teaching wrong.
