• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hey Worriedone. I know the feeling well, but remember this, Our faith is not dependent on our feelings. When we are going through this disorder the only thing we need to hold onto is Jesus's nature. He would not lie to us, and he will never leave us when we call on him. Though it feels like at times he isnt there, he is there. He doesnt go back on his promise ever. He is holding you right now even though u might not be able to feel it, but you know he is based on his nature, his personality and his promise to never let you slip from his hands.
Praying for you my brother in Christ

I hate this so much!!! I keep having thoughts saying God's not real and nothing happens when you die and I feel like there true and like I believe them and I hate it I wanna believe so bad and I can't.

Worriedone, Your desire shines so strongly from your heart. God loves you now so much . Your feelings will eventually come back. I know as im telling you this right now your thoughts wont believe it. I know this because I go through this all the time, but our salvation isnt based on how we feel at this moment. Its based on his promise to us and what he did for us on that Cross:)
Hold on bro, your in my prayers

Thank you soooo much!:) I'm really confused like my thoughts on where I stand with God are bipolar I feel really close to him at times and then far away at others. I feel like I constantly have to pray to keep my relationship with God and I mean praying is good and all but it can become bothersome what do I do?

Your very welcome. Remember since your faith in God isnt based on your feelings (its based on Gods promises, this is biblical), then whether or not these feelings hit you or not has no bearing on your salavation. Dont fight the thoughts too hard, Let them be and the next time they come say "oh, its only you" and let them know that you aresaved and there is nothing that can change it :)

Prayer is good, but we in our condition sometimes pray too hard and remember even God took a break after creating the Universe. Its ok for you to have a break from prayers also.

You are not only saved, but you are being molded as we speak, into one of Gods great Christian warrior. When you make it through this, can anything that anyone ever says to you ever get you down ? :)

Remember that and smile, even when it looks so dark at times, Jesus is preparing a very special house for you in his kingdom because you have held onto him even though the worst is being thrown at you.

Hey guys I struggled with doubt today and I tried to say to the thoughts you don't effect whether or not Jesus saves me but I still worried about it as I sit here thinking about it this really bothers me because this doubt could lead to unbelief. I also had thoughts saying I don't need God and there is no such thing as Heaven and Hell.

hi, God knows that you are struggling with OCD, those thoughts are not how you really feel, because our minds are flawed by sin, and for you your struggle with OCD can do that, God knows that you beleive in him and his existence. i know many people including myself struggle with doubt and i dont have ocd, doubts are okay just ask God to help you grow in faith and pray that he will keep you and carry you through this struggle, i will also be praying for you. God knows your sincere heart.

I agree. I think you are just dealing with intrusive thoughts so common to OCD.

How do I deal with my fear that this doubt could lead to unbelief?

let it be.... the more attention you give it, the more you keep seeking reassurance on here, the more your worries has a chance to really cling to you. stop seeking reassurance. that is the best advice anyone can give to any OCD'er or anxiety ridden person. Doesn't matter if someone tells you what you want to hear. You'll feel good for a while then it will just come back. Or switch to something else. Easier said then done, but as my Christian therapist said to me once, what is working for you? "How is that working for you?". What are some of the solutions you have found? Are you active in God's word? Helping others, contributing your time, going to church, getting into a small study group? Or are you just relying on this forum to help you?

alot of people redblue. Please stop being rude to me. I do not get on your threads and say rude things.

I just think there is no way to prove this so y is it being said. I have people at my work with the same doubts. The only difference is they dont obsess about it. The doubt comes from us not ocd and even if it was Ocd you can't prove it so there is reason to be scared of hell.

so what will YOU do to prove your doubt wrong? We know you doubt. We know you want to believe. So now what will you do to enhance, build your faith? God requires us to take action and not just sit there and be complacent (which I am still guilty of sometimes)... So what will you do? You can either keep worrying that you will go to Hell and doubt that God really does exist and you'll NEVER see your daughter again. That is one way.... OR you can start by trusting in God (not yourself) and begin a different approach to this with new solutions to help yourself. Not to be mean, but that is pretty much what my therapist said to me. He also said we can do this "dance" all day long if you want.

Raven, let me ask you a question.I know you have these doubt thoughts, but is there even a small part of you that says its possible for God to exist and to be there for me? Look within your heart for that small piece of faith as small as a mustard seed. Look there and then start to build on it by asking Our Lord to help you find a way to increase your faith.

Like I told you before your will means so much to God.

I read devotionals every night. I listen to Christian music. I pray every night. I help people on another forum with there problems on another ocd theme because I believe God would want me too. That does mean I am saved because I doubt God exists not my OCD but me. Doing these things also has not helped me with my doubts at all but I do it anyway. What else I am supposed to do?

Also no one has told me how it is possible to trust and doubt at the same time. How do I trust when I am freaking out about the possibility of no heaven or going to hell. I had feelings today I want God to go away because if he isn't real. I don't want to worship him but I don't want to disbelieve and go to hell if it exists but pascals wager doesn't get us into heaven. What happens when you don't even know if you want God anymore and you only cling to him to avoid possible hell but your mind is really saying lose him be athiest.

I'm just really talking to you guys I'm starting to attend Bible club on Tuesdays at school which lasts about 10 minutes and I pray every night. I don't really go to church that much because this church is real in your face which is weird for my family because at my old church everyone kept to themselves which is how my family is. I visit the psychologist tomorrow he usually makes me feel a lot better maybe he can give me insight on this. I'm going to start seeing a therapist in March though. :)
