It's interesting, but the analogies in the article seem inconsistent.

Is it a two dimensional surface on a sphere with all the matter and information splattered there in zero time, or is it a three dimensional basketball hoop dropping matter into the unknown?

I think their theories are based on the assumption that nothing violates the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics (found in the article).

But in fact, it has been proven, the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics isn't absolute.

They could just say that black holes are also quantum objects like elementary particles like electrons and quarks both having infinite densities and zero spatial dimensions. Explains the queerness of black holes.
