How do you get educated people, who wouldn't normally say anything that hasn't been run through the scientific method and back, to seriously bring up: Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, the tooth (and other) fairies, Allah, the FSM, superscriptions on belt buckles, Saturnalia, Thor→Thursday, and other such nonsense; while AT THE SAME TIME, wanting to discuss SN1987A, dendrochronology, ice core sampling, cratering, radiometric dating, string theory, M-theory, the CMB, and other such nonsense?

Hint: All you have to do is mention _____?

How can we get Joe to suddenly start yakking about Santa Claus, for example?

Simple:

Tell Joe that Jesus loves him; and before you know it, Joe will have brought up ... on his own ... everything from Santa Claus to the tooth fairy to the FSM.

Alternatively, let's say Joe is a KJVO, and won't discuss anything regarding any non-KJV scripture.

But I didn't want to derail my own thread.

That's why I call these things "challenges" ... the challenge is to get an accurate and honest answer, without having to wade through a bunch of venting and ridicule.

EVERYBODY here talks about things that can be evidenced AND things that cannot. So your "lets say..." premise is bunk.
