Your US history is as as good as any homeschoolers. I'll give you that.
As for biblical morals, why do you guys leave out slave ownership, polygamy, stoning for adultery, stoning for dishonoring your parents, stoning for not being a virgin on your wedding night, or stoning for worshiping other gods? You guys really get selective about your morals when it suits your purpose, don't you?
The biblical ways of life for Israel and the world, and later Christians, is a living, changing thing. It was God salvaging mankind from the fall, on through the present. He needed a people, and rules for the times they were in. Rules and sacrifices, etc with a purpose. It pointed to salvation. To pick out some rules in the past is to pick out what was needed in a time and place for the people and how they were and lived. Polygamy is no worse than lesbianism, in fact it
still produces kids! So you can chose your
flavor of the month sin, and try to make sins of other times
less in vogue all you like. Fact is, there is plenty of sin, it is the state of man. The slavery, sodomy, mass murder, and oppressions of today are
no better! Just different. If I asked a Roman slave if he would rather work for less than it took to eat and support a family at Wal Mart in the future, possibly be nuked, eyes melt in sockets, or whatnot, he might just prefer where he was! Hard to say. Stop blathering about the progress of man, it is a delusion.
As for the early settlers in the US, they did not come to have sodomy thrust on their kids, and sacrificing children by the millions in ritual abortion murders, or having their little ones offended by evo demoniacs mocking God.They wanted freedom to worship, not from it. And not closet worship. Now, everything ungodly is coming out of the closet, and Christians think they must go in it. Grow some spine, people.
Jesus was the God of the majority, that is not a question. He was the God they were talking about.
Now, personally I believe we are too far down the end time path in history for some reprieve, like several states going back under God. That likely would result in more time, and mercy. But, aside from real repentance of that sort of scope, all that awaits a God forsaking country in this period of history is destruction by fire in one hour.
