I'm currently doing a recruiting tour and I get out of the Navy this coming September. I play the sax. I like to jog. My favorite sport is soccer, but I don't follow it much, or any other sport for that matter. I claim Chicago for all my teams...Cubs, not Sox.

I am mom to two wonderful children, and am blessed with a giving and devoted husband. We are very happy with our life in the country, and have three dogs and one cat. My # 1 hobby is historical research.

Well, I was baptized at 1 in the Greek Orthodox Church, but didn't learn really anything about the faith....so kinda "Cradle," and kinda renewed, practicing Orthodox since 1996.

I'm married, and as of March 1st, 14 years.
We have two boys - 8 and 11-1/2.
I love to read, type on here (lol), and do jigsaw puzzles.
I am one of the Church school teachers for the 5-8 year-olds.

Not sure, but fairly certain Russian Orthodox

3. Status: Orthodox, Catecumen, Serious Inquirer (by this we mean that you have started attending an Orthoodox Church and meeting with the Priest or someone they designate to teach you about the faith) Inquirer (not yet fully serious but interested.)
Again, not too sure how to say this. I haven't been assigned a priest or other person because my mentor, a serious member of the church, brought me in and the parish is small. I would say serious inquirer, just not assigned a personal guide, instead more of a village attempt.

single, but in a relationship; formerly an interpreter at my church of membership in Florida, I am a student at Tennessee Temple University. I am also studying Japanese.

For people who don't know me, I come from a Baptist background, but have always been a studier. I am very serious about having my walk be right with God, so while any decision will take longer than watching mollasses climb up a mountain, I know my decision is right when I come to the point of making it.

I will be as concise as possible, but I truly believe that I am embarking on an important journey and, as such, am overcome by a desire to share this experience.

Not that I would normally summarize my life to present in just two details, but there are two points that are notably influential as pertains to where I find myself now. In early 2010, I made the decision to abstain from alcohol and have followed that decision faithfully ever since. 2nd detail: In August of last year, I relocated to Washington, D.C.

Since moving to D.C., I have dedicated myself to my personal growth, both physically and mentally. Other than my work companions, I have done this pretty much in isolation; immersing myself almost totally in running, weight-lifting, reading, and writing.

In my effort to stimulate myself intellectually, I began to study the Russian language. This study led me to Russian history which, inevitably, led me to reading about Orthodox Christinianity.

Even during my cursory reading about the tradition, I felt compelled in a way before unknown to me to learn more. Last weekend, I met with a Priest from a ROCOR Cathedral here in D.C. for discussion, and left the experience more interested in Orthodox Christianity than when I had entered. I wish to not make more of the feeling for fear of being taking for hyperbole, but my desire to inquire about Orthodox Christianity certainly feels to me likely something much more than intellectual interest.

I should note that I have been throughout life agnostic in my personal religious belief, despite having studied religion academically in college; religious studies was one of my dual majors.

As a gift from the Cathedral, I was given a copy of The Orthodox Way, which I am currently reading voraciously. I passionately thirst to learn more and, despite never being personally Spiritually prior to considering Orthodox Christianity, I am now overcome by the sense that my life would be much more fulfilling should I fully embrace this tradition to which I am currently being introduced.

I look forward to learning more, hope to use this forum as a means to aid in doing so, and thank you sincerely for allowing me to share this deeply meaningful experience.
