Here is the Info that would be good to post:

1. Real first name or Nameday Name (this like everything is optional)
2. What jurisdiction your parish is in. (OCA, Greek, etc.)
3. Status: Cradle Orthodox, Convert, Catecumen, Serious Inquirer (by this we mean that you have started attending an Orthoodox Church and meeting with the Priest or someone they designate to teach you about the faith)
4. Any other interesting pits of information you want to share such as: marital status, children, pets, hobby's, church activies such as singing in the choir, etc.

Thanks.
Greetings. My name is Steve and I live in Texas. I have just converted to Orthodoxy recently so I suppose I am still in the "cradle" though I have been in JESUS since 2003.
Been married to my present wife since '74 and I would have to say my hobby is studying Hebrew and Greek of the Bible.
Haven't attended a church in almost a year, the last one being a Pentecost church [coincidentally the same one my wife and I were married in, though at that time I was more agnostic].
Anywho, that is just a short summary of me and hope I will be welcomed on TAW by others here. God bless

I am so happy for you Steve, how long have you been thinking about the Orthodox Church? In GT you always seemed favorable to it but I never would have thought you would seriously think about converting, how is your family reacting to the news?
how close are you to the local Orthodox parish? have you met with the priest yet? have you gotten a prayer rope yet?

In my book, you're always welcome to TAW brother - Orthodox or not. May God protect and uphold you on His path.

1. Real first name or Nameday Name (this like everything is optional)

James, James

2. What jurisdiction your parish is in. (OCA, Greek, etc.)

OCA

3. Status: Cradle Orthodox, Convert, Catecumen, Serious Inquirer (by this we mean that you have started attending an Orthoodox Church and meeting with the Priest or someone they designate to teach you about the faith)

Converted in 1992. Had been RC/charismatic and have attended, even Post-Orthodoxy many Protestant denominations and non-denominations to accomodate the wider interests of my family members. Was originally introduced to Orthodoxy through a Ukranian group but moved over to the Antiochians in 1995, where I was chrismated and married canonically. So I suppose you should count me as Orthodox from 1995 instead. My move to the OCA was in 2009, after I discovered there was a new mission nearby. This would have always been my preference.

4. Any other interesting pits of information you want to share such as: marital status, children, pets, hobby's, church activies such as singing in the choir, educational background, what you do for a living, etc

I attended an RC seminary for four years and an Orthodox seminary for two. Occassionally I serve as a cantor.

I have been married since 1990 (if you count the non-canonical years) or since 1995 if you want to count only the "legitimate" years under canonical Orthodoxy. We have two children. One fit beautifully into an altar boy robe about a month ago, but the poor priest hadn't realized he had Asbergers syndrome, (with its accompanying ADD), before fitting him into it and trying him out for a liturgy. He was called up while I had my back to him for a few seconds and then it was just too late. He hasn't been called up since. My other son's only interest in coming is to demonstrate to one of his skater-boy friends that the cantor at our church is even funnier than the one in his own. The ironic thing is she is much better than I am and on the day he invited his friend, the regular cantor was out of town and who was there to chant but me?

Both sons have very strong wills but for completely different reasons. Father Philip, our priest, pointed out to me that the type of cleansing in Psalm 50/51 is that of a Hebrew laundry - so they beat the dirt out with a fuller's club. Now when I say "exaleiupson to anomima mou" I know to think of being beaten by a fuller's club. And I can think of my patron saint's martyrdom. I'm sure the apples don't fall far from the tree. How else can you deal with strong wills?

Grateful for such great mercy and patience

I never got around to doing this despite being here for three years or so :)

1. Real first name or Nameday Name (this like everything is optional)
Kyrie is my legal name. For Kyrie-Eleison. My parents are slightly nuts, yes. Baptised Kyriaki.

2. What jurisdiction your parish is in. (OCA, Greek, etc.)

Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia

3. Status: Cradle Orthodox, Convert, Catecumen, Serious Inquirer (by this we mean that you have started attending an Orthoodox Church and meeting with the Priest or someone they designate to teach you about the faith)

Convert, baptised Holy Saturday 2008.

4. Any other interesting pits of information you want to share such as: marital status, children, pets, hobby's, church activies such as singing in the choir, etc.

I'm not engaged yet but past the "dating" stage, it's a bit weird. His name is Andrew and he's our parish neokoros and I love him to bits. No kids, would love a bunch one day. Andrew wants a few as well. I have a very fluffy half-ragdoll cat called Koukla, who is obnoxious but adorable enough for us to keep her. I stitch, a lot, usually fine embroidery and petit point with a nice dose of straight cross stitch (on linen) thrown in. Do not mention aida around me or I will have a heart attack :)

I'm at college studying linguistics, and enjoying that most of the time. And I've been lurking here since early 2007, posting since June or so.
