  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Feeling such a contrast of emotions. Today is my Mums 65th Birthday. Im so thankful shes alive today, and her treatment for cancer is working. Incredibly thankful to have been able to celebrate Christmas with her and my family. And yet Im sitting here crying. One of my friends Dads died today. He had cancer, but it was an aggressive form of cancer. He only found out a few months ago. He was only 60 years old. I didnt know him, but its just all of a sudden hit me tonite. I feel for my friends loss, and its such a contrast to the joy I am feeling that my Mum is alive. If not for the treatment working so well, it could have been me in the position of losing my Mum, instead of celebrating. Trying to process it, just such a mixed lot of emotions swirling around. Cancer freakin sucks.

New Years was a great day. G, a couple she has known for most of her life and I went to Chatham First Night. Started out we missed the circus act, but caught Java Jiv, a 3 man band that we all love, then out for an early dinner, G and I got the Captain's Plater. Then it was off to the low fireworks. What a great display. We then headed to the HS to see the circus followed by a tribute band to James Taylor. Finally back to town to catch a couple of guitar players. Then back to the hotel room to watch the ball drop. G wasn't so happy that we skipped the Cod dropping, but it was getting very cold. 2014 here we come!

I have no word. But would love to give you a hug, Dory

Thanks dayhiker. A hug would have been lovely.

Feeling heaps better. It was just one of those moments when stuff comes outta nowhere and smacks you up the side of the head! I had a good cry, thanked God that my Mum is doing well, and prayed for my friends family. Must be such a tough time for them. Cant begin to imagine it really.

Hey everyone, I'm back! Dayhiker, glad you had a good new year. I fell asleep and woke up at 12:09AM LOL. I was SO tired from traveling I guess.

Mama Dory, so sad about your friend's dad and that is one mixed bag you had to deal with. It's been 8 years (wow almost 9 years on the 23rd of this month!) since my husband passed and I sometimes cry at comedy movies LOL so I can kinda relate.

Ya, the south misses out on tubing in the winter! So this company has a hill, quite long, with a tow to the top. There are a number of lanes down the hill so each tube doesn't run into anyone else going down the hill. You get going fast enough that a crash could be dangers. At the bottom of the hill there is a long run out and a hill up to stop in.

So a fast slide down the hill, and a two back up! Lots of fun!

OK now I get it hahaha! Silly me, when I think of tubing, it usually involves water, but not the frozen kind. Looks like lots of fun! I would go do that!

A noteworthy moment in my life. I wanted to share it with you all. I didn't mention that I re-injured my leg doing the ice dance during the ice storm a week or so ago (and would love your prayers and thank you very much in advance for them). As a result, I'm hobbling around again taking as few steps as possible on my days off in order to give it the rest it needs for a speedy recovery.

So last night on my way to bed I'd already turned out most of the lights when I remembered I wanted to take another dose of an antiinflammatory supplement I have. I could see the bottle okay and I had a pitcher of water nearby, and to avoid extra steps, I grabbed a cup I saw on the counter, took my supps and went to bed. I awoke this morning, grabbed the four foot plant stake I'm using as a walking stick for support, hobbled to the kitchen only to realize--I drank from the cat cup! The cup I'd used the night before is a cracked old cup that I use to scoop catfood! Eewww. Fortunately, it's dry catfood so the amout I consumed was only crumbs. And I did have a really good laugh at myself, which is good for pain-relieving endorphin! Any, so it's official. I drank from the cat cup and felt I needed to confess.

Blessings on your day, all!

Reminds me of an office mate story about how one time he was staying with a mutual friend while up north. Apparently it was midnight and he was craving a midnight snack. So he finds these Ol' Roy treats on the counter and grabs one for a snack. Apparently they were quite memorably disgusting.

Unfortunately for me, a few weeks ago I was at Walmart and the lady in front of me had a huge box of Ol' Roy dog treats on the conveyor belt and I was laughing uproariously at what appeared to be nothing. How could I explain?
