  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, Michelle, the old tub is gone .. and as with ever step its been more work than I thought. This time the drain to the Kitchen sink came in under the tub and ran along the wall. So I've been moving that. Have to run the steam pipe and the wife for the steam control and then I'll be able to put the base of the new shower stall in.

man I need a handy man like you around my house! I noticed in my kid's bathroom that the water is coming out of the shower and soaking my baseboard between the tub and the toilet. I was going to just try to find some waterproof paint to spray over it until someday whenever I get around to having it properly repaired. First I need to replace the carpet in the living room before I do anything else.

Is there a way to stop the water from coming out. It almost certainly will rot the floor is water is standing on it much of the time.

The floor is tile. Its from them not securing the shower curtain enough in the front and the water trickles out from the front side where the curtain is not closed so I'm pretty sure the baseboard is rotten, but I can't fix it right now. It's not the floor at all.

I got quite a ways to go yet. I've got the vanity done and the outside wall is now insulated, all the plumbing is now done. So I still have to put in the shower base and then the holes and hand shower for the sides. I've yet to order the glass front as I need an exact size for the order. Shower light and all the tiling in the shower, upper walls and ceiling as the shower stall will also be a small steam room. Then paint the outside walls and tile the floor. So A few more months I should have it done! I've generally so social that I don't get much work done each week.

So last night I was hoping to get the shower base in. To I place it and the drain is off 1/4" so I have to rework that. The steam pipe is too close to the base so I can get all the fixtures on the pipe without is sticking too far thru the shower base. So I've got some rework there as well. So two steps back last night.

Looks like a lot of work. I wouldn't know where to begin. I have once in a while listened to one of those home improvement shows where people get advice about a project. There can be a lot of details and there are lots of things you need to know how to do a certain way or you will make a mess of it.

There is a lot of work .. I started this project over a year ago ... I'd have it done, but I'm out being social too much. But taking my time also gives me time to think thru each job and get it done the way I want it done. This week I had to redo the drain and the steam pipe. Cost me a few extra buck to correct the mistake ... but still way cheaper than hiring it done. Plus I do enjoy the work and the thought it takes to figure out how to do it.

I wish I could do projects like this, but no way. I watch those shows like Love it or List it, and Property Brothers and it's amazing what you can do to change the space a house. I just need a handyman, that's all.

I have a spot in my kids bathroom because it's a bathtub shower with a curtain. They are horrible about keeping the curtain shut and consequently water drips down the side and the baseboard is all rotten looking. I was just going to paint over it with some type of waterproof paint for the time being because I have many other things I would like to take care of first. The plumber guy that came to inspect said it was mold, but I'm not sure it is or isn't. He said to take the baseboard off, and bleach water it, but then it will look ugly until I can fix it and water could get in further into the wall if the baseboard wasn't there.
