Hi there.

So what's up with these magnetic bracelets?

Are they efficacious?

What are the consequences of having the iron in our blood passing through a magnetic field?
Hello, the earth itself, as the lord created it, has inherent magnetic fields.
The fields are currently of a lesser strength than originally.
The idea behind the use of magnets is to recreate that field strength.
It has been shown to be healthy at the cellular level.

I think they're the modern equivalent of a talisman. As far as I know there's no good evidence that they are efficacious (i.e. anecdotal only), and there's no physiological reason to suppose they might be, beyond a placebo effect.
What are the consequences of having the iron in our blood passing through a magnetic field?
None. The iron in our blood is in the form of ions in haem compounds, not metallic iron, so it isn't affected.

Hi there.

What are the consequences of having the iron in our blood passing through a magnetic field?
The iron in your blood is not attracted by magnets, because each iron atom lacks 2 electrons and thus has completely different properties.

The magnetic bracelets are a giant scam and nothing more.

Hey guy's, I wear a magnetic necklace. I know, I know, it's a placebo, right? That's what my son keeps telling me as he chuckles. It's all in your head, Dad.

Well, I sold these for a company as a little side business just to earn enough to get mine for free....

A guy at work had a golden retriever, it was older and had arthritis. The vet wanted to put it down, the owner said he had to carry it up and down stairs and it was walking really slow and never played anymore, go figure.....

He asked if they made magnetic products for animals. I said, ya, they have a magnetic collar. He told me not to tell anyone, as, like everyone at my work that are scientific people, he was not convinced it was anything more than a gimmick. He was willing to fork over the money to check it out for his loving pet.

So, he buys one and puts it on the dog. Well... the dog changed. It was able to run up and down stairs, played fetch and was acting like a young dog again after a couple of weeks. His neighbor asked what med's the vet had put the dog on cause they had the same problem with their dog.

I guess what I'm saying is that it is tough to convince an animal enough to invoke a placebo affect.

From what I have learned, the earth's magnetic field is diminishing, it is also at a frequency of 8 Hz. This frequency is beneficial and actually necessary for mitosis. Electric magnetism is at 60 Hz which is detrimental to our bodies. The south pole of a permanent magnet has one effect and the north has another. One is healing one is for increased energy.
The magnetism increases blood flow when worn on the body and polarizes the blood components.

Anyway, placebo or not. My migraines are far less frequent and far less severe, so I'm going with it. I just bought a new one as my old one broke. best $40.00 I spent for my lively hood.

So, chuckle or laugh..... something is up and I don't care. My life is better either way.

The placebo effect has been proven to work in pets, too, because the pet is able to perceive the expectations and moods of its owner.

A few years ago I jarred my lower neck resulting in Cronic pain. One good help with it is a plain old thick magnetic bead hematite necklace. I bought it at a random street stall market one day and found pain relief one of its byproducts. It's strong enough to stick to the fridge by itself. I have no idea how it works but it does help dull it. It surprised me as it was not advertised to do it and I bought the thing for a fashion accessory only and found out after wearing it what it does.

Magnetic bands offer no more pain relief than copper bands, which offer about as much pain relief as non-magnetic bands.

Sounds circular.

I had no idea people used magnets for pain this was about 8 years ago.
I thought that's cheap and trendy I'll buy that and it just happened to be magnetic. After a couple of weeks of wearing it all the time the pain abated and I began to notice it return more when I stopped wearing it.

Fair enough if I had some expectation of pain relief I could assume placebo effect but I didn't and it worked anyway.

Sounds circular.
Not really. The logic is simple: Painrelief of A is equal to B, B is equal to C, so, pain relief of A is equal to pain relief of B.

First, they tried to compare magnetic iron bands to non-magnetic iron bands, but the testers with the non-magnetic bands were able to verify this and thus realised that they were part of the control group, thus preventing them from experiencing the placebo effect. So they verified that copper bands are as usefull (or useless) as unmagnetic iron bands, and then verified that copper bands are as usefull (or useless) as magnetic iron bands.

They used copper because it is also rumored to have analgetic properties.

It's all there in the article I linked.

I don't doubt you, and if it works for you, more power to you. And far be it from me to talk you into experiencing pain again.

I just mention some medical studies. Anecdotes are no evidence, as you are certainly aware, and this is the P&LS forum.

So, you are actually saying that this dog, all crippled up from arthritis, gets a new collar from his master and "thinks" maybe this will help me"?

I'm sorry, but I just don't buy it. There is no way that this animal can consciously or subconsciously put the two together to the point that it was running up and down stairs and acting like a young dog again.

I'm sure that in people, there is a large placebo affect and scientific or physical connection as well. But, in animals, nah....

The company I sold for also sold products for horses and they were a hot item. I know, I know, horse people are out there, but.....just say'n.

As an aside, when I was selling this stuff, I don't anymore, a buddy at work told me that a prof at his university was studying the affects of this energy on MS sufferers.

His wife had this issue, Multiple sclerosis. He created a ring of metal and magnetized it at low Hz of energy and would pass it over his wife's body several times everyday. Her symptoms reversed........

I have no explanation for this and I understand that the placebo affects of humans is very powerful. However, there must be something about it based on animal results. I wore a copper bracelet for my golfer elbow and no effect. I have a magnetic bracelet and my golfers elbow cleared up in a week compared to months.

All I can say is if it works........
