It's also very cold in germany. This should be the hottest month, but it's nearly cold enough to turn the heater back on.

Summer cold spells are common here (which is fairly close to BC Canada where Lytton is located). Although it's supposed to get warm and sunny latter on today. Not hot, just warm.

China didn't contribute disproportionately to the problem, it is arguably unfair to expect to impoverish themselves for the benefit of wealthier countries.

And therefore, in the interest of social justice, we're just going to turn a blind eye to them building coal fired power plants at a rate that hasn't been done by all other countries combined while the rest of the world destroys their own economies, and it will be just fine?

But consider, China is "the enemy".

Nothing they do will ever be correct.

No, no, no! It's America that is the world's boogeyman. Or maybe just the white people in it that are the boogeymen. Or possibly just the white Christian people that aren't going along with the marxist ideology that are....

Well, whoever it is, China must be allowed to build more coal-fired power plants and pollute the atmosphere in order to stop the climate from warming/cooling/changing.

In Northern Wisconsin we have temps in the mid 60s today after being in the 80s and 90s recently. Also have been getting some much needed rain. This, after so much talk about how the recent weather indicates global warming. But now that the weather is compensating the other direction, the talk about global warming has somehow gone silent.

Except that, in all fairness, the town of Lytton has been completely destroyed. Wiped off the map

If my area had a fire during our dry stretch of weather, it could have been completely destroyed as well. But it wouldn't have proven anything about climate change any more than the fact that it didn't burn down proves anything else. The only thing the events of Lytton proves is that fire is able to burn.

And when temperatures keep hitting record after record high, storms keep getting worse and more numerous, and weather patterns keep getting more and more extreme? You're like the frog in the pot of water that sits there and slowly boils, since it's happening too slowly for you to realize it.

I believe we had several record high temperatures ourselves this Summer. Storms didn't increase though. We had a dry stretch that seems to have ended. We got a good amount of rain yesterday and are now only a couple inches below normal for the year. I live just a little south of Lytton and a good ways to the East.
But even further south, there was a fire that nearly wiped a larger city off the map. It was Chicago, and they had an even bigger fire back in 1871. If that happened today, would you and others here be blaming climate change for it?

It has nothing to do with "social justice", the Rights latest bogieman and swear word, and everything to do with basic fairness.

Yeah the weather where I'm at in the Pacific Northwest has been very normal the last few days and the forecast for the next ten days is the same. Many probably don't know that while the PNW is known for rain and forests, the central region is desert.

"The arid summer air and the low elevation of 230 meters contribute to Lytton at times being the hottest place in Canada, sometimes topping 40 C, said the website. “We sort of have a microclimate here, and it's known that our trademark is Canada's hotspot as we're often the hottest spot in Canada".
Dry air, low elevation helped create record-breaking hot spell in Lytton, B.C.: meteorologist | National Post

Blaming white people due to their skin color rather than actions has nothing to do with "fairness".

We're talking about climate, not race.

Same idea. Allowing China to go full bore in polluting the atmosphere because, "Hey, America did it too!" is the same idea of "social justice" that the race-baiters use when they use that terminology.

I have no idea what point you could be trying to make here except that it seems obvious, given the context, you are trying to evade the substance of the real subject.

If anyone wants to check the weather in Canada, then I guess this is the thread. I've been checking articles on another matter - the climate. But...I guess it's easier looking out of the window to see what the conditions are like and extrapolating from that.

Well, if you've got a window to look out of and your house isn't a pile of ash.

That's not unusual for that area, this time of year. It's the most arid and hottest area in Canada.

It's easy to think of BC as being solid forest. But the central area is more desert like.

No, because that was a fire in a city started by human activities. What would you accept as evidence of climate change?
