  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It sounds like both you and Far Side are expecting some sort of physical sensation to confirm salvation. In my experience, that's not how it works exactly. I felt the same way before realizing that repentance is a lifelong process and it takes a bit of jostling from an old lifestyle but then it gets easier. Learn to desire to turn away from SIN. What is so appealing about it? Ask yourself why it's so difficult to let sinful practices go progressively. If you (personally) can find a way to start cutting back on the gross sin you are engaging in (by your account) then you'll have more confidence about coming to Jesus in prayer and you won't feel you need to be fearful anymore.

I can't stop sinning on my own.

I think where I differ from deerglow is that I am sure that I'm saved... But people say when you a Christian you aren't supposed to be depressed or that you should have blessings and I don't have those things which has me at a crossroads. And I'm just wondering why this is happening.

when I got saved, I didn't feel a tingle, a sensation, or warm hand on my shoulder, or see any visions. it started by the desire to view porn being taken away immediately. then I desired to learn more of my faith through reading the Word, got rid of activities and things that weren't pleasing to God. so on a so forth.

I think I backslid gradually as I got older but I don't know. I tried to come to Christ so young I don't know anymore.
Maybe we can help each other.? I really want to be happy...and it seems God is my only way. Hopefully we can get better together.

I don't know, it's that I feel like Cassius. Hard hearted and wicked and selfish.

You are. It's just a matter of getting your psyche more in-tuned with how the Lord wants us to feel.

YES. From what you've posted, you do have a LOT on your plate. It wouldn't be easy for anyone to be going through what you are going through right now. You ARE allowed to feel emotionally/physically drained. Use this as an opportunity to let the Lord know how dependent you are on Him!

Do you attend a church? Maybe try church-hopping and see if you can get involved in with their programs and such. Maybe they have a schedule that lists what their congregation is up to that week or month. You could maybe volunteer and meet other Christians. Let me know.

I am afraid my heart doesn't really believe. And I have so many blasphemous thoughts, I sin A LOT. I am afraid of hell but I still SIN so much. And I don't think fear equals remorse or contrition for me. Fear of punishment doesn't mean guilt for sin. I'm afraid I'm not really convicted, not believing, now saved.

Overcoming sin is a process. Start first with your most serious sins, one sin at a time. Once you have overcome that sin, move on to the next. I had some mortal sins in my life that I didn't overcome until I was 31, it took me all of my 20s struggling with it. Once I got past it though, things became easier and the lesser sins were easier to overcome. It was God's grace that allowed me to stop this sin, because I failed many times by my own strength. You will not be the same 10 years from now so just because you're in a bad state now, it won't always be that way.

O-O no like, why do you think it's so impossible for you to decrease in your sinful practices?

I'm saying I can't do it alone. As in if I'm not saved and God is not in me then I cannot stop sinning.

If you're filled with God's spirit and saved...
You won't experience depression, suicidal thoughts, mental illness.... No matter what happens you bounce back and are always faithful..

And if you don't...you're not saved...

Is that really true... If so maybe I should examine myself...but I do know in my heart and soul in saved...and I will battle anyone all day..because I know what I did and believe in and I remember my baptism.

That is sadly some unhelpful, if not harmful teaching you have been given. the Psalms contain may such expressions of inner conflicts, doubts and struggles. Martin Luther struggled with depression all his life.He used the Psalms when he was experiencing his very dark times.

Beware of simplistic 'religious sounding' teaching and concepts.

You're right about that.. We can't stop sinning on our own...we can't even desire god without God desiring it for us first...

Just be honest with God...he knows this, he knows we can't do anything without him...so tell him that.

I'm saying I can't do it alone. As in if I'm not saved and God is not in me then I cannot stop sinning.

Nobody in this life here completely stops sinning. Not even saved people.

Focus on the biggest sins that you do have control over. Gross sins like stealing (you can stop yourself from picking something up that isn't yours) adultery (you have the option to not sleep with a married person), murder (if that's you're thing, stop murdering people) idolatry, which comes in many forms, make sure to read scripture and pray more than anime. Actions speak louder than thoughts and no one can tame the heart in it's entirety.

I find it very hard to believe you're irredeemable at 17.

It just sounds like you're ascribing far too much weight to "thought" sins. Be more concerned about action sins which can be controlled, and then you'll be able to tell the intrusive thoughts to back off.
