  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Being saved can help with depression.. finding God the Fathers love for me personaly did lift a lot of depression off my life for sure because His Love is really powerful and I really needed unconditional love from Him. I don't know why He did that with me but I'm grateful. I do still struggle with it but not to the degree I used to and it's usually because I've let my thoughts wander away from the truth about Him. So if it starts to get bad again I start realigning my thought with what the Bible says is true about God again and that is usually like cool clean water washing my soul and mind and helps a lot. Knowing God doesn't necessarily cure those things or our natural tendencies but knowing Him and who He really is can improves things tremendously or at least with me it has. And I do find great comfort in His promises in His Word..that He will never leave or forsake me, that He is working ALL things toether for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. I pray for that for you Far Side of the Moon, for His blessing and kindness in you life. God is who He says He is.

Far Side Of the Moon.. I love your questions :) For God so loved the the world He GAVE His only son that who so ever believes on Him will never die but have every lasting life.

Jesus said in Luke "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

So.. if it was me. I would do JUST like Jesus said. Not what I think or any one else. He said if YOU ask the Father anything in His name He will do it. So.. you just say what JESUS told you to say. Then no matter what feel think see. You take HIM at His word. Just like you do with John 3:16 Rom 10:9-10. If that is so true then Luke is just as true. Ask the Father for just what JESUS said you can. And the Father that said ALL through Jesus can not lie. IF HE said it HE will do it.

Believe.. this is why JESUS said.. be like a child. HAHA you know if you tell a kid anything DUH its TRUE..for the most part. FAITH. This is what your FATHER is trying to get us to be like.. HIM! If its written.. just BELIEVE. It HAS to work. Because HE cant lie! Its ALL true or all fake and false. WE have to make that choice. Go for it.. just believe and see and watch what YOUR DADDY YOUR FATHER YOUR GOD WILL DO..for YOU!

Being saved isn't the same as being filled with the Spirit.
Paul said to the church:

Ephesians 5:18-20
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In other words, Paul was talking to saved people.
And he tells them to do something. They had a choice whether or not to do it. It's a command.
"Be filled!"

And how were they to be filled?
By singing songs, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody from the heart to God.
In an attitude of giving thanks for everything.

Now, I guarantee that if we determined to live every day to its fullest, in those attitudes, and took the action of singing grateful songs from the heart constantly...

There'd be no room for depression.

I found that thanksgiving and submission to God is a sure way to kick the demons of depression out.
(Not speaking of exorcism here--I got in trouble over that idea from the admins...All I'm saying is depression can be linked to the spirit world, and this is the route to victory.)

If you're filled with God's spirit and saved...
You won't experience depression, suicidal thoughts, mental illness.... No matter what happens you bounce back and are always faithful..

And if you don't...you're not saved...

Is that really true... If so maybe I should examine myself...but I do know in my heart and soul in saved...and I will battle anyone all day..because I know what I did and believe in and I remember my baptism.
You obviously need counsel, if you're bringing up suicide on the internet. You've hit a floor in your descent by posting here, but no one's words, help, or prayers will save you from this pit except by Christ's doing.

I've been in and out of clinics, therapy, off and on medications. I've been homeless and a boozer. I've seen family give into narcotics only to give into Christ in the end. The ONLY way to peace is your complete surrender to Christ; you must work out your salvation with fear and trembling every step. God is faithful, even when we are not.

That is as ridiculous as saying if you are saved you won't have any physical medical problems like heart disease or diabetes. The mind is part of the physical body and it is regulated by hormones no different than other organs in the body. And when the hormone levels are out of wack, you get thinks like depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. It also has an electrical system that can malfunction and make people perceive things that aren't there (like with schizophrenia). And it is also an emotion center which can be traumatized causing personality disorders and things like anxiety.

Yes, Christians can suffer from mental illness just as they can suffer from physical illness. It isn't a measure of their Christian walk or sinfulness or even "the devil" attacking. I have met some very strong Christians on the mental health floor in the hospital and often it is their relationship with Jesus which allows them to fight to control their illnesses and feel loved when the world wants to label them "crazy"

Demons can't attack people who are not blame for nothing.
Is some apostle or saint ever been possessed with demon?

It can help to realize that when A and B and C are all good things that help, one doesn't have to say "only A and you can't have B", or "only C and not A", etc.

One wants all that is good, A and B and C. I'd want the physical, the emotional, and the spiritual, all. Which is only what you typically are aiming to do already, but we want to support you. :)

Far Side ~

It is certainly possible to struggle with intense and awful feelings even as a faithful, believing Christian.

Many, many holy men and women have struggled with unwanted or evil thoughts. Many ordinary Christians do, as well. It is not an easy part of life, and while Christ does not promise to remove every dart of the enemy that we might face, He promises to be our strength and fighter in the battle.

No that's not true. Christians can be depressed and have suicidal thoughts. They can have mental illnesses and they can be blind or in wheelchairs. Just because you're a Christian doesn't mean your whistling and clicking your heels all the time. Life is hard. For Christians and atheists. Christians have someone to talk to though. Jesus. It wouldn't take much faith if you could always feel Him and hear Him in your heart all the time. He want's you to follow Him no matter what. Just hang in there and He will be with you.
